I was delighted to be introduced to a poet I did not know today: Jane Dougherty. I love what I have read thus far of her work and will seek out more. Today’s form, however, is one I doubt I’ll try again in the future. Rhyme still seems infantile to me, and limiting in all the wrong ways. However, I am proud of the revision process that took me from an atrocity of a poem to one in which I am at least satisfied with the last couplet. After having spent the morning on the phone with my health care provider battling uncovered claims, money was much on my mind. Let’s hope my efforts with insurance prove more fruitful than my ghazal. Right now, both have just served to leave me with a headache.
