Ichiran ramen 🍜 Seriously the best ramen I have had in japan and honestly ever! Ordered my ramen spicy with a side of Smoked-flavored stewed pork and rice. The flavors of everything was amazing which made the experience a great one. You order from a machine before being seated and once in your booth the curtain is opened up to slide your food in front of you then closed so you can enjoy. I definitely recommend anyone going to or in japan to visit one of these ichiran restaurants for themselves.

discovered this vegan ice cream/gelato place in japan during my research and now i’m gonna list a bunch of crazy flavors they have that i’m excited to try! all of these are nut free + dairy free and sosososo claire safe :))

black currant and honey sorbet, yuzu (my fave), peach from wakayama prefecture sorbet, apple cider vinegar sobet (which i’m a little afraid of), mango enzyme and okinawan lemon sorbet, mythical islands mandarin sorbet, ehime citrus unshiu sorbet.

they have a bunch that are totally vegan (aka honey free) and proper ice cream/gelato (not sorbet). i.e. fresh yuba (tofu skin) gelato, brown rice caramel gelato, sake flavor gelato, uji matcha and ume gelato, tomato sorbet :0, white miso vegan cheese gelato!!!, hemp seed and charcoal gelato, corn and amazake gelato, beets and amazake gelato, iran pomegranate and star ruby gelato, lychee and grapefruit sorbet, banana with charcoal gelato

Hello, Frazer and Emily here. 

We absolutely adore food. From holding a ripe piece of fruit in our palm, fresh from the morning market, to hunting down local gems to recreating our favourite discoveries at home, we love every step of the culinary process.  

So, it’s only natural that it is a huge factor in our upcoming trip to Japan. Join us as we craft and curate a comprehensive guide to some truly incredible food. 

Over the next year, we will literally be climbing mountains to bring you regional  ingredients at the height of their season. Along the way, we’ll be frequenting all the onsens and yatai to find out where you can eat like a local. Based in Tokyo, we will be travelling to festivals, markets, workshops and more.
