Gift picture for @bonkalore ! Your demon boy Jayce, but he is now... a bicorn! (I was thinking about the unicorn bit you wrote, you MLP designs, plus I had recently re-watched the Last Unicorn, so I started thinking about how Jayce's horns could work as a bicorn, with one being broken. I tried to make sure he actually looked like an equine creature, but also still visibly JAYCE. the eyes are really defined and deep, like the Rankin-Bass style for the Last Unicorn, too. also, I was trying SO HARD to shade and line this really nicely, using different pencils and almost-dry makers to blend, and then one night when I'm leaning over the paper... my nose decided to bleed for NO RAISIN. literally just one tiny drop of blood. sorry for the cursed art process)

Another Daniel Spellbound thought upon rewatch of s2

I am pretty sure Jayce had no idea that Daniel had no magic in him(that we know if because we all saw what happened at the end of s1). Shak ended up being the one having to use to totem because Daniel got wise to how off putting Jayce is. I already said before that Jayce was doing the almost less than bare minimum of caring for Shak and letting her almost die several times as long as Daniel was still intact. He was still keeping her around because either one would do the trick. Daniel was just his better choice because he could get him what he wanted, Daniel is smart and big enough to handle danger. He was even going to ask Elyse to use it for him. He knew not to even bother with Lucy because she would tell him no for sure.

I didn't even clock the first couple watches that connection, Daniel doesn't have magic but Jayce was lead to believe he did. He probably had no idea how Mermaid tech magic worked which lets anyone use it regardless if they have magic. He probably figured that was his "totem" of choice on top of Daniel having a ton of knowledge of magic. Also no one mentions Daniel not having magic, Shak probably knew but had no reason to mention it.
