If he does step down, he's constantly pregnant with Megatron's sparklings. Maybe Elita's for some time.

He's looked up to as a fertility god/dess of sorts because of the amount of times he's gotten pregnant.
He snarls anytime someone isn't invited to the nest and tries anyway.
He drains the sires (mainly Megatron) of their transfluid. He doesn't stop until he has an even larger bump.
When he isn't pregnant, his body is so curvy and chubby. Tho it's enough to get others to push him to the berth and breed him full until he's filled with babies. (They want to see him get even thicker/bigger).
He whimpers when they get rough with him. (It turns them on so much that they're practically slamming into his valve and hes left squealing and squirting.)
When the sparklings are kicking at his internals and his spine feels like it's about to give up, the sires are massaging him and sometimes they would lift his belly to get the pressure off his back.
If he doesn't step down as leader: he's still full of sparklings (probably less of the time but I doubt it). He's still training while his bump isn't visible. His EM field is content and leads to the mechs being very comfortable around him
(I'd like to imagine that while he's reading a datapad, that he always has a servo on his bump.)
Ykw Archivist Orion Pax is not gonna be innocent/naïve in this other AU I have. Like, idk why, but the mech has to have seen some shit that not even Megatronus has seen.
This mech would have access to some of the most fucked up shit known to Cybertron. I'm talking murders, conspiracies, acts committed by the Council and against them, unethical projects / research, empurata / shadowplay victims, etc. etc.
Orion Pax is NOT fine. It's quite the opposite, actually.
He is meant to be a puppet for the council. He is meant to allow them to do whatever they want with him, whether it being an assassin, Archivist, or something else.
But, sure, OP may play the part of an oblivious, naïve middle-caste who doesn't know the terrible side of life. But, in fact, he does know--he just couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't help them get justice. He could only send them Ratchet's way to have them repaired, giving them energon, providing them with basic necessities, and trying to educate them.
Though, when he met Megatronus, that's when he realized he could finally be able to help the victims by getting rid of the Caste system (imma say that in this AU, OP not agreeing with Megatronus' methods is still there. Probably a bit toned down as he can see where he's coming from), and he knows what they have done.)
Soundwave, of course, eventually finds out all of this. That OP has access to everything they could think of since he is the most trusted mech there in the Archives. That OP has interacted with the most terrifying creatures to exist and has done many things, albeit unwillingly, for the council. That OP has tried to help the less fortunate with varying degrees of success.

Soundwave suddenly tells Orion that he knows.
Orion is shocked. He thought that nobody would ever know what he had done outside of his family. He thought that he could manage to keep all of this from them, from Soundwave and Megatronus specifically. But it's Soundwave. He will always find a way.
What he didn't know was that Soundwave already told Megatronus when he found out.

The next time that he met up with Megs, he is attending a meeting with the others in Kaon. They were talking and laughing, but he could feel that something was wrong, that something was about to happen.
At the end, he is met with Megatronus' anger and a load of questions.
"Why haven't you told us, told me? Were you so confident in your abilities to trick us that you didn't think we would find out eventually? Is that why, for many stellar cycles, you weren't here in Kaon with us? You were playing for the council?"
"Megatronus, if I can expla--"
"What is there to explain? You were tricking us into believing that you would fight with us against the caste system!"
"I'm sorry--"
"Sorry for what? Sorry for not being good enough to keep it a secret--"
"MEGATRONUS, PLEASE!"
All went silent.
Orion never begged, Megatronus duly noted.
"Leave Kaon, Orion." He said with finality.
"Megatronus, please, if you would just listen to me--"
"Leave, Orion Pax." He commanded.
Orion stopped trying. He left the room without saying another word.
(Later on, when Orion Pax died and Optimus arose, Megatron would think to himself, "Why didn't I try to listen to him? Why did I do that?")
(As he was leaving, OP was so heartbroken that he couldn't do anything else other than what he had to do for them. He will then regret his decision of keeping it a secret and fall in on himself as the Matrix burns through every part of him, leaving a husk of what he once was.)
(May the galaxies know that they will forever regret and forget what they once stood for. What they could have had. And maybe Primus will have mercy on their sparks, for they were driven to betrayal and insanity. May Primus forgive their sins and start anew with the eternity they now have with each other in a void of boundless, endless joy.)

So what I was thinking was that in this universe, the Primes were known as the broodmares right? Yea, let's tie that into them also being cryptids in order to protect their sparklings and sires
Yes, it's mainly the LHP's job to care and protect them BUT the matrix won't allow them to just be broodmares. They need to also be WEAPONS
SO what I was thinking that they would be larger than the sires by maybe a couple feet or so, they have larger teeth to defend themselves, they have thicker bodies to sustain any damage and to carry many sparklings/eggs, they have claws, etc.
Okay, now imagine this (imma combine all sorts of ideas, so stay with me now): imma say that OP, in this universe, used to be a dock worker, alright? Dock workers were BIG. They all had some sort of upgrades in order to fit the qualifications of their job. BUT they also had these upgrades because the docks were so fucking dangerous that you would need to have all sorts of weapons and training just to survive the day.
Energon rations were scarce here, yes, so they had to fight for that, too. They had to fight for everything, basically. OP, who desperately didn't want to fight anymore but couldn't because he can't go the pacifist route in this line of work, killed a lot of mechs. He felt guilty because they never chose to fight to survive. They couldn't help that the caste system doesn't benefit them; it only serves to beat them down until they're nothing, used till they're deactivated from either turf wars or some other cause.
Orion Pax figures that if he can't go for pacifist, then he should try to lessen the amount of casualties by striking deals with some of the other gangs. Does it work? Not always but at least the number has gone down. When a mech deactivates, he sends them off to the Allspark with sorrowful prayers. When a mech is injured, he tries his best to repair them before carrying them to Ratchet, with some ending up dying.
The deaths, fighting, protests against the caste system, secret meetings, mechs getting tortured and executed-- all of these were getting to him. He doesn't have any means to save them from starvation, from the frigid winters and scorching summers, from the enforcers, from each other, from themselves.
And the only happy things going in his life are his found family and his sparklings, Mirage and Bumblebee, whom he carried.
His pregnancies were brutal, to say the least, no matter how much his Amicas tried their hardest to give him what he needs. No matter how many energon rations they gave him. No matter how much they tried to keep him from stressing or in any danger. No matter how much shanix they tried to spare/save to buy items for the sparklings. No matter how much blackmail and bribes they had on others / made just to keep OP safe and keep the dock workers afloat.
And the birth. Oh, Primus below, the birth. He couldn't even describe the pain he felt other than excruciating. He was in labor for almost a full cycle. And afterwards, he was so exhausted that he was too weak to try to hold his sparkling. Too tired to even keep his optics online.
Mirage--his firstborn, whom he was forced to give him up after the overseers discovered him. He knew that Mirage wasn't made for this life as he was only so young. He knew (even though he didn't want to admit it) that he couldn't keep him, not for long. He knew that he couldn't raise him here, not in a constant state of war.
Then, he had his little Bumblebee. He doesn't believe that Bee should live in a war-like environment either. But he doesn't want to give him up. No, not entirely. So he sends Bee to live with Ratchet and his conjunx, Deadlock, this time round.
Does Bee know that OP is his carrier? Yes. Does he know why he couldn't live with his mama? No. And he'll never know why for the next couple of vorns. Does he know what they all did to make sure that he had a good life? No.
Does Mirage know about him, that he's his carrier? No. Does he know anything about his past and the family he could have gotten? No. And he wouldn't meet them until later on, when the war broke out.
(This going down the angsty route was not what I intended but whatever)
Skip forward to when Orion Pax meets Gladiator Megatronus via fighting in the Pits.
How did he get there, you may ask?
Well, he got caught fighting some enforcers who were physically assaulting one of his Amicas, and he just snapped. And, in the end, he killed 2 of them while severely injuring the rest. He was then charged without a trial and immediately sent to the Pits since they saw it as going against the system.
The Pits were a lot like the Docks, he found out. Yes, you may have to fight to the death but wasn't that what they were practically doing anyway? Yes, you have to fight to earn medical care, energon rations (those were more than what they ever got in the Dockyard), frame upgrades, more training, etc. (At least there were most benefits. He hasn't felt this good since he onlined). Yes, you have to fight with mechs who you were close to. Yes, you have even have to kill them just to survive another cycle.
Anyway, he goes against everyone in the Pits, makes a name for himself and earns quite a reputation. He then goes against Megatronus. Everymech is expecting that he would put up a fight but not win. Every single one of them placed their bets on Megatronus.
They were proved wrong when Orion Pax manages to incapacitate him
Megatronus, who has never lost a match in several vorns, was suddenly beat by a mech who He was astounded. Yes, the mech is several feet taller and larger than him, but he had won matches against larger opponents than him! He should have won!
Mind you, he wasn't angry when he woke up. No, he was just in shock because, logically, he should have won. But this got him interested.
Who was the mech? Where did he come from? How did he beat him? All of these questions ran through his mind and no answer. Because of this, he has Soundwave look into it.
What he finds is almost nothing. There's a name, when he onlined, record of his working at the Docks and being a supervisor there, but nothing else. That has him intrigued.
Mind you, the Decepticons were just starting out by the time OP got put into the Pits. Meaning, he saw and quietly listened to the mech behind the speeches; the lyrical poetry coming from the spark; the way the crowd quiets when he speaks, eager to hear from the one that will lead them to victory; to see Megatronus and the way he offers comfort to those who need it; the way everymech is comfortable around him.
Megatronus, surprisingly, offers him a place in the cause. A position that would grant him the ability to oversee the operations of the cause. One that he would have to share with Soundwave (not that he minded. In fact, he was thrilled but he never let it show either in his face nor his EM field.)
(And when Megatronus leaves him gifts and spoiling him rotten as best as he could? Megs would only that they are just friends.)
(And during this time, Bumblebee began to ask questions. Why couldn't he visit mama anymore? Did he do something wrong? Did he do anything to upset mama, to make mama not allow him to visit him?
"No, little honeybee, you didn't. In fact, he wants you there, but we can't visit him anymore, alright?"
"But why?"
"Oh, you'll understand when you're older. You'll understand why mama wants to protect you."
Bumblebee finally gets to visit his carrier for the first time in 2 vorns! Sure, he got to exchange datapads filled with writings and little charms with it; he got to taste candies he got sent straight from Kaon; he received numerous gifts over that time; he got voice recordings from him; he even got shanix from him to spend! ("Don't spend it all, little bitlet. You have to save some for later on." "I know, mama.")
And when he got there with Ratchet and Deadlock, he already has several mechs cooing over him.
"Oh, how adorable that bitlet is!"
"Such a precious thing, ain't he?"
"Would you like this rust stick, little one? Or an entire bag, perhaps?"
"Maybe he'll like this trinket?"
When they finally manage to get to the location, Bee's already squirming out of Deadlock's hold.
"Hold on, bitlet! We need to find your carrier first!"
"Please? I'll be right here! I can be good!"
Ratchet sighs out of amusement. "Fine. You can let him go."
As soon as he's let go, he immediately sprints from them with the both of them shouting after him. He needs to find him!!
After a while of running, he slows to a walk, admiring everything around him. He snaps out of it after a few kliks.
He's using his EM field to find him because Ratty told him that he could find his mama this way!
By this point, every mech walking by turns to look at him, sensing the little EM field that was saying 'Mama! Mama! Where are youuuuuu!'. Bee is oblivious to it all.
Then, suddenly, he's being picked up by a pair of strong arms. He's squirming uncontrollably and in a mini fit of rage. He wants to find his carrier! Who is this mech!
The mech turns him around and it's Ratchet with Deadlock trailing behind him.
"Oh!" Bumblebee looks at them sheepishly.
"Oh, is right, bitlet. Now, don't go running off, trying to find your carrier, ya?"
"Okay..." Bumblebee pouts.
After a few breems of searching, Bee manages to find his carrier among the crowd of mechs surrounding the vicinity. He loudly chirps at him, startling everyone.
Said mechs turn around and look directly at him, causing him to hide his face in Ratchet's neck.
Orion Pax, who was talking to Megatronus and Soundwave, snaps his head at Bee, optics widening. Bee is here? He thought that he wouldn't see him for another few joors!
"Oh, sweetspark!" Orion is already moving towards them, oblivious to the stares he's getting.
He takes Bumblebee from Ratchet's arms and spins the both of them around. Bumblebee giggles in delight at finally being able to see his carrier!
When they settle down, Orion Pax turns and tells them that he won't be with them for the next couple of cycles.
He turns to Ratchet and they both leave, leaving Megatronus and the rest in confusion.
(And maybe Megatronus does find Orion attractive because of this. I mean, who wouldn't? Especially once you find out that they're a carrier. And maybe he does think about getting him sparked up with his babies this time round.)
Megatronus and Orion Pax were once lovers. They was proof of them once being together--the courtship, the sparklings Orion carried and Megs sired, footage of them making Soundwave and Strika the godcreators of said sparklings, the love datapads they exchanged, documents and pictures and audios of them laughing and being happy. Yet, history will erase everything that they had and say, "they were just friends."

I have another AU coming (you can choose whatever iteration you want for this.):
Megatronus/D-16 and Orion Pax meeting in a nightclub.
(I got this idea from the song "Livin' la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin, okay.)
What happens is that Orion Pax gets dragged to the nightclub (run by Jazz, of course) by a couple of his Amicas because he "needs to loosen up a bit!"
(And let me tell you right now, Orion is no ordinary mid-caste archivist. No, no, no! He is a warframe who got picked up by Alpha Trion at one of the hotspots. [And he also has several engravings (tattoos) and piercings...] He can be shy, but only when he doesn't know anybody there or is in a professional setting. When he's with his Amicas, he can be a bit loud and is very open[-minded] with his opinions. He often gets into fights with some mechs [though, it's usually for the money]. He's loves sharing his opinions on the caste system and systematic injustice to anyone who also shares his sentiments.)
Megatronus/D-16 goes there after his own Amicas tell him that this nightclub is "one of the best on Cybertron!" He gets interested after a bit of convincing and here he is.
(Imma also tell you right now that Megatronus/D-16 is also a warframe [of course], but he's a bit smaller by a couple feet from the other Pit fighters. He is a kind, passionate mech who wants to see the end of the caste system. He wants to be able to walk anywhere without any repercussions or needing an escort. He wants to be able to receive an education, but, alas, the caste systems forbids him from getting one. He only has one engraving, and it was done by Soundwave, his cherished Amica.)
Megatronus/D-16 gets there, and the first thing he sees is a beautiful mech. He sees all of the intricate engravings and piercings the mech has, the way he easily moves through the crowd, the way he dances, and is instantly enamored by him.
When the mech goes to the bar for a drink, he, rather shyly, asks the bartender (Hot Rod) to give him one of the most expensive drinks there (he wants to make a good impression on him) and say it's from him.
OP, on the other hand, is wondering who gave him this expensive ass drink. Hot Rod points to Dee, and OP is immediately like, "Woah, he's cute." He asks Hot Rod to give the mech his comm. and designation.
He does, and Dee's spark is immediately fluttering. By Primus, he actually got the pretty mech's comm. and designation! He didn't even think it would work, but it did!!
Mind you, everymech that was with Dee watches this go down and they all chuckle. They saw how Dee, almost literally, had heart eyes when he saw OP. They thought that Dee wouldn't go through with it, but he did, and they are impressed.
Later on, when they all went home, Dee would excitedly contact OP, and they would begin talking about everything they could think of.
Anyway I think I did get caught in the spam filter but I have more thoughts to share. Idk if you're gonna get a notification from me for this, but whatever.
I lost the specific doc for this idea and I accidentally got out of the ask thing so I lost several ideas.
I currently have writers block with Feral Broodmare OP AU w/Soundwave so that doc will be a tough one but good thing I have all my notes written down for that.
ANYWAY
The main idea was that Soundwave gets Optimus pregnant to get back at Megatron (and because he NEEDS that Prime pussy).
Mind you, my memory is very foggy and that I will diverge from canon.
So Megatron and the High Guard were banished from Iacon and were sent to the surface, right? I believe that the vorns spent out there were fine, if a bit tense and terrifying at times. Then Megatron does something very stupid (and dangerous) to Soundwave, and he ends up defecting to the Autobots.
The Autobots were understandably wary of him, but they soon warmed up to him (Optimus included, especially him).
Soundwave spends more and more time with Optimus after getting a feel of how he runs things, and, needless to say, he likes it better there than with the Decepticons.
Optimus notices this. And after a while, he takes a liking to him.
Soundwave is having a hard time dealing with his feelings since it is so much that he actually doesn't know how to cope with it at all. But one thing he does know is that he is obsessed with Optimus.
He's obsessed with the way he moves on the battlefield like a seasoned soldier, that caring personality of his, that huge, curvy body (he know it could carry so many of his sparklings), the way he blushes after giving him a compliment, the way he drinks energon, etc. etc.
And, as it turns out, his instincts agree with him. It craves Optimus. It sees him as more than a worthy mate, it sees him as the only one who is worthy enough to mate and settle down with. It wants to spoil him rotten. It wants to provide everything that he needs, for himself and their sparklings.
So, what does Soundwave do, you might ask? He ends up killing a Decepticon and presenting it to OP like a cat gifting a dead animal.
OP is surprised. But he isn't repulsed like he thought he would be. Instead, he's interested, flustered, and flattered. He didn't think of himself as attractive enough to be a worthy mate.
And here goes Soundwave proving him wrong and wanting to prove themselves.
He accepts the offering, and it delights Soundwave.
Things happen during the course of the war. Their romance escalates to the point where Optimus finds himself pregnant with SW's sparklings.
He's both terrified and excited. He tells SW and he's also excited.
They start planning how to prepare for the birth of their babies, and Megatron eventually finds out. (Idk how but he does.)
He's livid; it should have been him who had impregnated Optimus with his transfluid.
He confronts SW on the battlefield. He's hitting harder than usual; he's trying to kill him.
Optimus, despite being heavy with their children, goes out of his way to find Megs and hurt him for touching SW.
He starts tearing off Megs’ armor plating, spilling as much energon as he could; he's getting closer to the protoform and begins to tear into it. Megs is screaming for mercy, but it falls on deaf ears. OP is tearing out his internals onto the ground, eating some of it as he goes.
SW, upon seeing this, is ecstatic. He's internally purring at the sight of his mate defending him.
Once OP is done, he's taking him to the berth room, splitting him open with his spike and filling him up with his transfluid as a reward.
Okay, I have another thought, but what about Orion/Optimus having religious psychosis. That shit is terrifying, okay?
Like the Church (can you just tell that I despise them, especially Evangelical Christians. They did too much to me, okay) would feed into his delusions that he is destined by Primus to heal Cybertron. That shit would damage him so much. He wrote books during this time (essentially a type of bible) and almost led an entire cult before his family pulled him out of it.
How did they pull him out of it, you may ask? Ratchet found out what he was doing and slowly tried to undo the damage. He, along with Jazz, Prowl, Wheeljack, Elita-One, reminded him what was important and then forbade him from going to church. OP threw a fit about it, but they didn't care. They knew that OP would understand.
It took a long time before OP was fully himself again, and all of them just decided never to mention it again.
He still has all of the notes and things from that era and has kept it secret. Do any of the others know where it is? No and they never asked him.
Does it get mentioned later when one of them was drunk off their mind? Yes. Does that also lead to many others finding out? Yes.
