The Pace Report: "Retro Casual" The Jesse Fischer Interview
Keyboardist and producer Jesse Fischer is one of the baddest and coolist musicians on the planet. Not only is he innovative with his music in the present tense, Jesse is moving forward musically with his band Soul Cycle. His current CD "Retro Future" on the Obliq Sound label casually puts a new spin on some old rock classics like The 5th Dimension's "Aquarius", Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland", and Stevie Nicks' "Landslide" while bringing his own funk to his original compositions in the mix.
Jesse's Soul Cycle consists of musicians that range the whole musical pallet from rock to soul to jazz music. They include: alto saxophonist and flautist Brian Hogans, trumpeter and flugelhornist Jean Caze, trombonist Corey King, guitarist David Linaburg, bassist Solomon Dorsey, percussionist Shawn Banks, and drummer Gabriel Wallace.
In addition to Jesse's hectic schedule, he also runs Electrik Indigo Studios, his own recording studio, right in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. He also backs many recording artists including soul singer Laura Izibor who he had the honor of producing and engineering her current EP, "The Brookklyn Sessions: Vol 1." Other musicans that Jesse has performed and recorded with are Lakecia Benjamin, Black Moon, Freddie Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Ryan Shaw.
