“Who hurt you?” // @jim-gcrdon
Victor looked at Jim, wondering why the man suddenly cared. Every advance he’d made to be his friend, Jim had rejected. The only thing he accepted was the food. “You asking as my roomie or as a cop?” he questioned. “I quit working for Roman. He started to cut my face off then let me go.” He gestured to the wound on the side of his face. “Some bonds can’t be broken.” Shrugging his shoulders, he reached for the towel on the table, pressing it against his face. “A scar I didn’t give myself.” A laugh followed his words, and he locked eyes with Jim. “I work on my own terms now. I won’t go after your wife.”
