Ya know, I actually really like the new song. Its super fresh, and definitely stands out among Green Day´s other singles. I know a lot of folks are disappointed by it.. Which is understandable enough considering its so different. It literally sounds like something from Mindless Self Indulgence (at least to me). Which yeah is very weird when I remind myself its Green Day and not MSI lol.

But personally I'm super excited for more. It looks like its gonna be a very fun album. They probably had a lot of fun with it :D.

wait does billie joe not identify as bi anymore?

Last time I saw an article where he directly addressed his identity he said something along the lines of not really identifying with any specific label. That his main focus is really just his wife (so I guess the implication is that a specific sexual identity is irrelevant to him). But he also stated he’s definitely not straight. I also feel like he’s explicitly referred to himself as queer (he’s definitely used the term before but I could be misremembering the context).I tried digging up the article, I know I came across the link on Tumblr. But I can’t for the life of me remember what magazine it was for. I’m kind of at a point where I feel like (based on how he’s reacted to fan’s saying things about him) he wouldn’t care too much if people call him bisexual so long as it’s in a respectful context. You know what I mean? It’s not really up to us to place labels on him or speculate about his sexual/romantic life but in the same token a lot of bisexual boys look up to him for coming out as bisexual. I know I’m also making assumptions here; But I really doubt he’s the kind of person who would want to take that excitement/pride away from kids and teenagers who need someone like them to look up to.

So personally, I don’t refer to him as bisexual but I don’t think anybody who does is a problem/being problematic.

Remember: If Billie Joe Armstrong could make it, so can you. His fight and struggle paid off, so will yours. Keep going, he (and the rest of Green Day) believe in you.

Not to Start Discourse But...

Mike Dirnt is literally an angel. Sorry, but all the receipts point to the fact that he’s an amazing person. I know this must be hard for you all to read, but it’s far more important to be truthful about these things than to hide behind anxiety. I repeat: Michael Pritchard (aka Mike Dirnt) of Green Day is a literal angel. This. Cannot. Be. Argued!

To Revolution Radio

I feel so lucky to have just started getting back into Green Day the months leading into Revolution Radio. I have mentioned a few times in this blog how I skirted around getting to know the band members themselves because I was anxious they’d turn out to be unsavory individuals. I had quite a few times been disappointed by my musical idols so it made a bit of a sense that I had this concern. Then one day I was was browsing YouTube for Green Day songs and “Bang, Bang” popped up. Because I had been disconnected from both the fandom and the band itself it came as a complete and utter surprise. That song played a huge role in sealing the deal for me, and I immediately became excited for more Green Day material. But there is another piece of the story. As I ventured further into the fandom on Tumblr I came across an article released the same day as my new favorite song. This article, a Rolling Stone interview with Billie Joe, was what made me fall in love with him and gave me the confidence to dive headfirst into the Idiot Nation. I can’t say that I wouldn’t have become as big of a fan had I not come back just before RevRad, but it may have taken just a tad bit longer. For those reasons I’m extremely grateful for RevRad. That’s not even accounting for how amazing the album is and how much those songs helped keep me going through such a hard time in my life. Thank you Green Day for coming back with this incredible release.

Not to be That Guy and keep pestering ya’ll for Attention™ but I’m always really pumped to talk about the American Idiot Musical or just the album in general. I also have thoughts about 21st Century Breakdown and Revolution Radio that kinda center on what those albums would look like adapted for the stage.

My Green Day poster started falling onto my boyfriend and all he saw was Tre Cool's face coming towards him so he exclaimed "What the fuck are you doing??!".
