PARENT AU THING JULDAN

PARENT AU! SEND ME A SHIP AND I’LL ANSWER WHAT THEY WOULD DO AS PARENTS

Who cried when they brought their child home for the first time:

XiaoDan!

Actually just her crying from the hospital, in the car, and all the way into their house as Jules recorded her walking in.

Jules was actually also crying but he was behind the camera and shedding manly tears of silence so no one knew except XiaoDan who was too busy blubbering and holding their baby.

Who would wake up in the middle of the night to check on the kid(s):

XiaoDan!

Jules would convince her to sleep while he takes night duty, but the mamabun always gets up at some point in the night to find her hubby asleep at the crib’s railing and wake him up so he can come back to bed with her.

Who changes the kid(s) diapers:

Jules!

Jules tries to give XiaoDan a breathe amongst all her cleaning and cooking and mothering by changing the baby’s diapers when needed. He also helps give baths and cleans up the toys as much as he can so his princess doesn’t overwork herself.

Who makes the bottles:

Both!

Jules and XiaoDan are both good at knowing when the bottle is warm enough for the baby. Jules times it and XiaoDan uses the wrist method (which Jules practiced over and over again to acclimate himself to know what feels right for the baby to handle).

Who stays up late at night to rock the kid(s) to sleep and sing them lullabys:

Wenhe!

Jules often watches at the doorway while XiaoDan holds their little baby in her arms and sings to calm their little one. He thinks it’s really cute, and he really likes seeing the glow that she has at this time of night.

Who is guilty of spoiling the kid(s):

Jules!

He doesn’t mean to, but Jules kind of loses track of himself and just likes seeing the kids happy. When XiaoDan tells him that he’s starting to spoil the kids, though, he stops and the kids actually grow up learning about the limits of gift giving and how not to spoil someone who doesn’t deserve it (as in spoil them if needed or as a little reward).

Who would give the kid(s) cookies in the middle of the night:

Neither!

Jules works late into the night sometimes but he usually drinks coffee to keep him going. Snacks are kind of a no-no since his logic is if he isn’t chewing he doesn’t have to brush his teeth again, so when the kids come into the kitchen for a glass of water or milk that’s what they get. Sometimes they sit on Jules’s lap or beside him to watch him work until they finish their drink and go back to their room to sleep or just fall asleep on him on accident.

Who always takes the kid(s) side:

Both!

Jules and XiaoDan are aware that their kids lie, but they understand that sometimes lying is needed to protect other people. They have 100% trust in their kids, but if ever they found out that their faith was being taken for granted, then the punishment would be that child losing their parents’ trust for god knows how long.

Who would wake up early to make breakfast for the kid(s) before school:

XiaoDan!

She doesn’t like waking up early, but for the sake of the kids and for Jules, it’s worth the grogginess if it means being able to give them all a good meal to start the day with.

Who gets the kid(s) ready for school in the morning:

Jules!

Like with the diaper changing, he gives XiaoDan a break from some duties by taking them on himself. Anyways, he has to get ready for work as it is, so at least this way he can have some fun joking with the kids and talking to them about what’s in store for the day and letting them feel connected with him when he might not be home on time or might not be with them as much as mamabun is.

Who takes the kid(s) to school:

XiaoDan!

Technically it’s the both of them, since I can see Jules working somewhere that’s the same route as the school that the kids take. But, if he ever has to leave early or when they hit the intersection that he has to turn a different path to get to his job, the kids give their hugs and say goodbye before finishing the route with XiaoDan and getting to school. She also is the one to pick the kids up.

Who goes to parent teacher conferences:

Both!

Thanks to pretty much being a prodigal genius, Jules managed to climb the ranks at the company he works at and work a good position at probably something like the youngest Senior Vice President/managing director. Which, of course, means that when parent teacher conferences come around, he can leave early for the day (after working overtime during the last few days to make up for it) and sit with his little bunny wife as they talk to the teacher.

Who will be the first to suggest to have ‘the talk’ with the kid(s):

Neither!

Jules and XiaoDan figure that over the course of their kid’s childhood, depending on the gender, the parent with the respective gender would teach them about their bits and parts and answer any questions their children would have about their bodies (like at some point in time -no matter the child’s gender- they’d ask why mama bleeds a lot when she pees or something and they’d explain that it’s her period etc).

They’re also very big advocates of ensuring that their children -from a young age- know how to clean their privates and how to properly wipe and everything like that.

When it comes to the birds and the bees, it’s not very ceremonial and it could even happen over dinner for all I know. Jules and XiaoDan aren’t very squeamish about it since they just talk about the facts behind it like that it’s for making babies and to use protection, etc.

Who would choose their child(s) prom outfit:

XiaoDan!

Jules trusts her to find a good dress or tux for their kids and lets her do her thing while he helps them with styling their hair (he’s no fashionista but he’s certainly good at doing their hair after helping them get ready for so long).

If makeup is needed, though, that’s also XiaoDan’s department.

Who would cry when the kid(s) go off to college:

Both!

From packing to the actual moving day where the household becomes just Jules and XiaoDan again, they’d be crying on and off. It’s actually difficult to tell who’d be crying more, funnily enough.

Who’s the first to wake up in the morning:

Wenhe!

Wenhe really loves cooking for Jules bc he always tells her how great of a job he did or something of the sort. That, and he teaches her the English name for things like food or ingredients (she loves his English lessons the most when it comes to learning).

Who’s the one to make breakfast:

Wenhe!

If I remember properly Jules can’t cook. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed:

Jules!

I know, I know, I just said that Jules can’t cook. But that doesn’t mean he can’t try. It would probably be something simple, like cereal and tea, but he always seems to know when Wenhe is craving it on the days that he wakes up before her like on the weekend or on days she has no school or work.

Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work:

Neither!

I remember Archie saying a long time ago that Jules was ace, and no matter how much time passes, Wenhe will always respect his choice. After all, she’s happy being able to walk around the house naked on really hot days without him doing something about it. Admittedly, Jules usually joins her in that and they just lie around playing video games au natural with her bunnies hiding under the cool space of their bed.

Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day:

Both!

Jules and Wenhe both are aware that work is important if you wanna make a living, but they’re both aware that sometimes it’s good to take a day off. Though, they usually don’t skip unless it’s the both of them, since it’s boring to spend the day alone while the other one is at work.

Who chooses the movies:

Jules!

He always picks English moves with Japanese or Chinese subtitles so Wenhe can watch along with him. She’s actually the one who keeps asking him to pick, since she finds American movies interesting. Alternatively, sometimes Jules picks Disney movies (her favourites) and plays them in Chinese with English subtitles so Wenhe can enjoy it to the fullest.

Who initiates kissing during the movie, thus distracting the other from the movie all together:

Jules!

You would think that Wenhe would be the one to give the kisses between these two, but Jules would probably find Wenhe’s absolute focus in the movie to be something that’s really cute. Of course, in that case, it would be a crime not to shower her with kisses. Cuddling commences soon afterwards, if it hasn’t already. 

Who orders lunch:

Both!

They both know what the other likes, but they usually just order together since a lot of the time eating out also means being adventurous and ordering/trying out new things.

Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking:

Both!

It’s not really stealing and it only really happens when they order out, though. They kind of just pick off the other’s plate to try something and if they really really like it then they’ll get a serving for themselves.

Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy:

Wenhe!

Bun princess is a bun and falls asleep with a full tummy. Jules proceeds to be an A+ partner and let her either fall asleep on him or cover her with his jacket or a blanket to keep her warm.

Who distracts the other from trying to work at home:

Jules!

Because he knows how to deal with stress and he knows even more that Wenhe sometimes doesn’t know how to when she has too much of it weighing on her shoulders. It usually calls for a Disney movie break or a joint nap time, since Jules is an asshole but he’s the sort of asshole who cares.

Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old:

Wenhe!

It’s funny because Jules is a year younger than her but she’s the one who acts like a kid a lot of the time.

Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream:

Jules!

But only when Wenhe gets a bit of ice cream on her nose and she tries to look down on it and Jules dies from the ultimate cute attack.

Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face:

Jules!

He says it in English though and it’s always sarcastic so Wenhe never really understands what he’s saying and he can dismiss it as just a random thought.

Who cooks dinner:

Both!

Dinner is also cooking lesson time for Jules. I like to think that living with Wenhe teaches him a good number of dishes, even if they’re Chinese and Japanese dishes rather than something his American palate is accustomed to. But, it’s Wenhe’s cooking, and when she finds a recipe she’ll make something western for him, so I don’t think he minds.

Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards:

Both!

Wenhe does the dishes while Jules does the table cleanup and puts away leftovers. I feel like he’s really good at stocking the fridge in a way where no matter how many things you have, he’ll always make it fit.

Who stays up until 2 reading:

Neither!

Because they don’t stay up until 2 reading. They stay up until 2 playing video games.

Who stares at their partner while their sleeping:

Jules!

He’s an asshole, and he’s pretty aware of that. Wenhe was his first friend, and he was Wenhe’s: he knows that they’ll always be together somehow, even if they go months without talking, and the fact that they’re a couple is something that amazes him, because it means he’ll get the chance to talk to her more often, if not always. It’s in these moments that the sarcastic and sardonic Jules is replaced with a more gentle, sort of wondrous one who thinks a lot about how the hell did he ever manage to get someone with a heart as big as Wenhe’s to even find happiness with him. He has a feeling that he’ll never find an answer, no matter how much of a genius he is, but he also has a feeling that... Well, he doesn’t mind.

Who kisses their partner while they sleep:

Wenhe!

Despite the language barrier, Wenhe absolutely loves Jules to and from the deepest depths of her heart. When she wakes up in the mornings, the first thing she sees is Jules; and when she goes to sleep, he’s the last thing she sees. Some days, though, she’s scared that -with all the great and wonderful things that they’ve done with each other- she’ll wake up and it would all have been a dream: that she would wake up in her apartment alone and it was her first day in Japan all over again. But, no matter how great that fear is, ever time she opens her eyes, they meet with his sleeping face. And, every morning, she counts her blessings of his loving her with giving a kiss to his forehead for teaching her so many things, his cheeks for keeping her smiling, and his lips for being able to share meals and conversations and everything together. Had they not become friends, or had he made a move, Jules really would have been Wenhe’s first love.

And I don’t think that she could ever fall out of love with someone who’d been with her for as long as he had already.

Oh. Oh no. Oh dear lord no.

With another shaky smile the ravenette knelt down to meet with the still young boy, ruffling his hair and placing a kiss to his forehead as she giggled, "Maa, let's ask Daddy, ne~? Because don't forget, Mommy doesn't know either, you silly little goose~!"

In other words, please go ask Daddy so he can answer because Mommy doesn't have the capacity to answer without possibly going into shock.

"Mummy, what is fuck?" A little boy with red hair and green eyes looked at his mother with a confused look on his face. "Daddy was saying it."

Cue the internal screaming from MamaBun that inherently has caused her to pet the top of her son's head vigorously. A nervous smile, and her head shook from side to side as a finger went up to her lips before she gave a little peck to the top of his head, then the boy's forehead. "M-Maa... Firstly... L-Let's not say that word again, ne..?"

Then again, she didn't really know what that word meant either, but d been told it was a terrible word she shouldn't say either... Still, best not to have their little boy say it if she couldn't say it either.

"N-Ne, when you're older I promise I'll make Daddy tell you, okay~? But until then, let's not say that word until Mummy starts saying it, too~!"

Yes, in that case it wouldn't be for a long, long, long while.

Maa, I saw Jukkun again today~!

We went out shopping for a lot of things for our cosplay that we need to finish by next weekend, and Jukkun’s actually coming over soon so that we can continue working on them~! He says that he’s just coming over to eat because he doesn’t wanna do anything, but Pyon was looking at me after the call and the look on his face looked like it was saying “Nope! Jukkun wants to work on cosplay!”

Ne, but even if he didn’t that would be alright, since I love spending time with Jukkun even if it’s only eating and watching what’s on tv~

The buns really like him, too! I think Pyon-tan is still getting used to him, but Momo-tan and Tomo-tan both really really like it when Jukkun comes around. Their tails are always twitching whenever he comes over, and Purin-tan starts jumping around with them too~ It’s really funny watching Bubbi-tan try to get Jules to play with her, since she always ends up shedding on him (which reminds me, I need to get more lint rollers for him to use when he has to leave),

I have a feeling though that Pyon-tan gets used to Jukkun he’ll really like him~!

Ah, that sounds like Jukkun at the door, so I’ll have to end it here. Let’s hope to have lots of fun with Jukkun again, tonight~!
