im not a meta writer at all sdgsdg but i personally saw eren's disappointment as him finding out there wasnt rly any freedom outside the walls like armin's book told him. He wanted to go to the outside world so bad bc even tho there were titans, there was freedom, and thats what he loves the most. By finding out there was just the same war, oppression, suffering, etc as his world (the walls) he fell into a state of depression and disappointment, and got worse with the future memories
