speaking of rainflower shes a pretty clear cut cartoonishly evil child abuser & even she falls victim to the writers misogyny because why is shellheart portrayed as a saint next to her when he does not even the bare minimum. he argues with her, breaks up with her, and is comparatively nice to his son. never actually puts in the effort to undo or prevent the damage that shes doing to crookedkit. he never actually fights back against the whole name change thing, just says he doesnt agree with it. they couldnt even do the "evil mom and perfect dad" thing right
