All good things must come to an end. We're back on the Amtrak Empire Builder heading to Saint Paul Union Station. What an incredible 10 days it has been. Spending time with this crazy guy is amazing. We've riden the train, spent time with family, rode another train and explored Chicago on foot during a pandemic and now home. Our final day the weather couldn't be better. It was cool with a breeze. What would the day be without a walk and I was determined to see the outside of the planitarium and we did. We even had some wind and cloud cover. Then one final hearty breakfast at Wild Berry, today I even added honey and fruit to my gluten free cakes. Talk about sugar overload but so worth it. Marty was a bit hungry and so I got a few new quotes. "You pick today to be Ansel Adams" and "You knew I was hungry at mile two, so you thought three more miles was a good idea?" After our 6.5 miles and breakfast we packed and then walked another 2.5 miles along the river with our 50 lb back packs. Thank goodness the breeze was there, not a lot of shade along the river. Plus families are out in drives, eating and enjoying the gorgeous day. It was a bit of chaos boarding our train, but once on board we meet our cabin steward and are now relaxed and settled in. Saint Paul Union Station here we come. Thanks for following us and our journey. I've gotten use to face coverings and I'm pretty impressed with how many people are wearing them. Also we managed to eat all but one meal outside, the one indoor was at a big open window to the sidewalk so felt outside. It's a new world to explore, with new rules. Let's follow them and be safe travelers. Ich mag euch!
