Justine Lutz joined Shaping Sound as well i'm very glad! at least now even so you think doesn't get renewed after all (hopefully it will be) she's got a real platform to showcase her talent and working with travis is probably one of the best things to have on your resume when you're 18 (or any age). it seems Alexa left or is doing other things tho
I really hope she gets on the show, though. I thought for sure Justine Lutz was a shoe in. >.< I don't know what Alexa's up to right now, though. Perhaps some stalking on instagram is due.
Favourite audition so far! I wonder if she choreographed that.
Those angles though.
My thoughts on SYTYCD S11 Episode 2- Chicago/LA Pt1 -
Super delayed, but here are my thoughts on this week's episode :)
First off - even though I love the styles - this episode was basically a bunch of contemporary, jazz, and ballet Wish there would've been ballroom in there and another tap dancer or something! ;)
Anyway - here we go:
Paul Brushaber: I admit, Paul was way better than what I was expecting and he is GOOD at what he does -- but I was bored.. I'm not sure how he would do with a partner -- so it shocks me that they sent him straight through to Callbacks, but that's just me... Emily James: I loved her! Many people say she's boring, but I disagree. I loved her personality and she's got beautiful technique! I was also thankful that she wasn't 18-19 like so many of the other dancers we've seen.. She's matured and I appreciate that. Can't wait to see more of he! Franchesca Bass: I give her credit for going out and using her disease to rock it.. Is she good? Absolutely...but I was left somewhat disappointed. I wanted her to be stronger and I wasn't captivated by her like I was others. James Thomas: I can't stand this style at all! It makes me uncomfortable and I just do not care for it. Jenna Scaccia: This girl is cute as a button and I loved how fangirl-y she was - it was fun to see! I think she's a beautiful dancer and has some fabulous technique -- but her facial expressions bugged me a bit. Too many smiles. Jessica Richens: DAMN GIRL. You are like Lauren Froderman 2.0 in the best way possible! Beautiful, funny, and crazy talented! Her technique was great and her tricks were clean, and I could've watched her ALL day. She is literally tailor made for this show. I will be shocked if she's not in the top 20 (and top 10) *Side note*: Although not her fault, I was annoyed at how the judges were all like "She could win this thing!" Please let's not start this thing now.. I do not want another season 8 repeat with the ridiculous pimping of contestants.. And yes, I know there's pimping every single year, but gosh I knew Melanie would win in Vegas Week..it was THAT clear. Rant over, sorry!
Valerie Rockey:Superficial moment - she's gorgeous and I love her tap shoes!! She was so good and she had so much personality. I would've sent her straight through to callbacks! Jana ‘Jaja’ Vankova: I TOLD YOU ALL THAT JAJA WAS SICK AND AMAZING AND SHE DELIVERED! I know it was hard for her personality to come through a bit, but she is DAMN GOOD. So hoping she survived callbacks because I am rooting for her! Kyle Taylor: I give him credit because he was good, but all I cared about was that battle beause Fikshun, Cyrus, and Legacy are so, SO good at what they do. Justine Lutz: YES YES YES I LOVE THIS GIRL. She has unusual movements and she's so strong and stunning! Top 20, please :) Deise Mendonca and Mauricio Vera: These two were beautiful and their technique was unreal....Their love and passion? Too cute. Hailee Payne: She is very quirky and very Amber Williams-esque (blonde, strong, weird). I liked her audition, but it felt forgettable to me. I had to re-watch it before my recap. Sebastian Serra: Glad to see he came back! Still good, talented, and handsome! Not my favorite guy, but he's definitely got some skills! Dani Platz: I really hope they don't play up her story all season, because a: that's shitty for her, and b: that would drive me nuts. Beautiful, special, and so emotional. Absolutely loved her! Marie ‘Poppins’ Bonnevay: Marie is SO passionate about her craft and it is 150% clear to me how much she loves to perform. Gosh, I love that spirit about her. Loved her little improv with Fikshun! How fun! Her style isn't my favorite --but she's wonderful and I look forward to seeing more from her at Callbacks!
Even though it was very heavy in certain styles, I felt it was a good espiode! What did you all think?
SYTYCD Chicago/LA Auditions
Other favorites!!!
Jenna Scaccia - WAH so butterfly like. Beautiful.
Jessica Richens - Not the biggest fan of "my favorite thing about being on stage is being sexy" but damn. She reminds me of Lauren Froderman.
Justine Lutz - Wonderful. So wonderful.
Sebastian Serra - I hope he does well. Those leaps though...
