“I do indeed know magic, it is something of my stock and trade.” Lebeaux Desrosiers explained as the bruise faded away under his touch and along with it the pain. Normally he wouldn’t bother with such trivial hurts, unless it was on his own precious face, but it was worth it to see the awe in the boy’s face. “Good kind? All magic is a gift from Her grace. There is no ‘good magic’ or ‘bad magic’.” He explained, checking the skin once he was finished. Smooth and clear, as though it had never been struck by the wooden sword. “So long as all is done in Her service, all shall be forgiven. But I presume you mean Thaumaturgy?”
Kai'to Shorei had heard that word used before....his ears went back a bit, and he nodded. "I make things happen, when I get scared or angry. It crackles like lightning and it burns people." He closed his eyes. "I was not allowed to use it....I was struck if I fought back in any way. I heard people say I was cursed or something....so...I always thought it was bad."
The medic continued stroking idly along the boy’s cheek and chin. Gliding soft leather over his fingers down before back up again. Petting the gardener as he released the other arm. He was satisfied with the results. Not that the lad could see the difference. Right. He was blind. Upon that realization he let his saintly smile slip away. Full lips parting as he relaxed his expression. “Such are the ways of those who do not live in Her light. Dark, unenlightened places where those with magic may be seen as cursed or damned. Heathens.” He chuckled quietly and rolled his shoulders in a shrug. “Where I’m from it was a blessing, no matter what form it may take. It’s a mark that you have been chosen for greater things and given the tools to better serve Her. They’re taught early to control and harness it.” He placed a finger under the boy’s chin, tilting his face up to admire it. “Yours has been left to fester it and grow wild. Rather as though you let these gardens you care for so well to mind themselves for so many turns
Kai'to's ears went back as he listened to Lebeaux, even though he purred softly. He blinked as he felt the hand on his chin lifting his face and his eyes danced before they steadied their gaze, perhaps for the first time looking at the elezen dead-center as if he saw him even when he could not. He smiled, bittersweetly. "I know not how to fix it." He admitted softly. "Kana said something about going to see someone in Ul'dah but I don't know....if I can learn at this point."
“Despite the instruction offered, some are still consumed by it. Those whose Faith couldn’t carry them through their trials.” Lebeaux explained thoughtfully as he admired the boy’s soft face and pale lashes. Tracing his thumb briefly along the strange markings under his eyes. “It would be in your best interest to attempt to learn, late is preferable to never. It will likely be a difficult task, there will be much to clear away and trim back before you can get to the roots of your power. Do not squander the gift.”
