Kakashi would like to kiss you on the very first day if possible, but he knows that’s not appropriate. He’s a man with honor, but if you make any move in that direction, there’s no way he could refuse you. Occasionally, he lets his gaze linger on your lips a moment too long, always timed to perfection.
After work, he waits for you like always. You, excited as ever to see him since he’s your quiet place, jump into his arms. Even though he’s not really one for public displays of affection, he can’t help responding, one hand gently stroking your head.
It was your day off, and after a few glasses of wine left you both a little dizzy, Kakashi found his courage when you looked at him with those beautiful, lovesick eyes. He made sure no one was around, only the moon to keep you company and the soft wind that played with your hair. He tucked it behind your ear while his heart pounded out of rhythm.
How it’s the time. Keep calm.
Your parted lips were so inviting for Kakashi when he cupped your cheek while your eyes said nothing else but desire. So when he leaned in to kiss you, he made sure to pour everything he felt into that moment, everything he couldn’t bring himself to say aloud.
⸻
Itachi 🍃
He’ll probably kiss you after a few dates because Itachi is a respectful and serious man. Maybe a small part of his reason is also that he likes making you wait. Each time, watching your shy gaze, your flushed cheeks, wondering to yourself, will he kiss me today?
As he walks you home, your hands touch by accident. You immediately begin trying to distract him, talking quickly about everything you did today. That is, until you reach the door. Itachi lets out a soft, faint chuckle before taking you by surprise, moving your hair aside. Your skin prickles with goosebumps instantly, your eyes locked on him. He follows his own finger as it traces your face, his thumb caressing you until he finally looks into your eyes.
You gulp, not daring to move, and his mouth tilts slightly before he leans in to kiss you.
⸻
Sasuke 🍃
Sasuke will not kiss you unless you initiate it. At first, you’ll probably feel like he doesn’t even like you, because he treats you like a friend. That’s how it begins, until you realize that he doesn’t look at any friend like that, his heart doesn’t beat like that for any of them, and he doesn’t lose sleep over any of them.
But you don’t know that yet, so on one of those days when you thought you could still wait, your insecurities get the better of you.
As you walk home slowly, in that silence you used to appreciate because you felt safe around him, your voice now comes out with a hint of irritation.
“Sasuke, I want to ask you something.”
Sasuke has never heard that tone aimed at him before, which is why his glance toward you is immediate, stopping in place on one of Konoha’s side streets. His favorite ones, the ones he chooses because there are rarely people around to greet politely, which he finds draining. Right now, there are children playing outside, but Sasuke becomes aware that he shouldn’t care about that right now.
He looks at you, waiting. His face cold, but his eyes show curiosity, and his heart beats a little faster, already fearing the worst.
“Yes?”
You gulp, looking around nervously before lowering your gaze, overwhelmed by the emotions stirring inside you.
“What do you feel for me?” You lift your eyes, looking at a Sasuke who blinks twice in confusion, until you gesture again, even more nervously. “I mean like… sometimes it feels like we’re just friends because and I want to know if I misunderstood or if—”
Sasuke cuts you off, lifting your chin with his delicate fingers. He realizes that maybe his respect for you, and his refusal to allow affection, has hurt you.
“Sasuke?”
There’s a murmur in the background. Even the children’s laughter fades. Maybe they’re watching or maybe not.
Two people, in the middle of the street, caught in their first moment.
Sasuke’s breath is uneven. Something that is so unlike him. Losing control over his emotions is foreign. He looks at you until your eyes fall on his lips, and that’s the confirmation he needs. That it’s safe to move closer. The kiss is brief, but sincere. Sasuke’s cheeks have colored slightly. He wants to kiss you again. He already suspects he’ll crave more. That once he’s tasted you, stopping will be difficult. His hand trembles faintly as he releases your chin.
His black eyes hold you, and the hint of affection in them makes you smile. Your smile grows even wider when he whispers, still trying to ignore the glances around you.
“Friends don’t do what we just did.”
⸻
Naruto 🍃
Naruto stressed for days over the moment he’d do it, annoying Kakashi into giving him kissing tips. Kakashi couldn’t believe what he was hearing, refused to answer, and left Naruto to figure it out alone.
Luckily for Naruto, you’re just as affectionate as he is. So after a ramen session, lying in bed relaxing with some ridiculous animal show that Naruto finds himself in, you two love cuddling.
Naruto was far shier than usual, burying his face in your neck and kissing all over your face like he always does.
You laugh, tickled by his little kisses on your neck, trying to push him away, only then realizing he’s hiding.
“Naruto, why are you hiding, baby?”
He mumbled something, but you didn’t catch it. With both hands, you cupped his face to look at him, catching a very embarrassed Naruto.
“Naruto?”
He groaned, throwing his head back dramatically, eyes pointed toward the ceiling.
“I’m such an idiot. You see I tried to make it special but, ghh.” He covered his face with both hands.
You started to get a little worried, so you pulled his hands down. Both of you sat up on the bed, staring at each other.
“Make what special?”
Naruto gulped, feeling breathless. Trying to find some courage. It was almost comical, how brave he is in battle, yet now he feels like the weakest man alive.
“T-the first kiss.”
Your both cheeks flushed at once, and he was surprised by your gasp as you lifted your gaze to meet his.
It didn’t take long for both of you to lean closer until your lips met. Naruto kissed you gently, stopping for just a second before looking at you, breathing hard. Then his mouth found yours again, pushing you back and deepening the kiss. After that, he began kissing you again quickly and repeatedly everywhere, making you laugh again. You remained lying on your sides, gazing shyly at each other while Naruto’s hand rested on your hip, unable to stop himself from touching you again and again.

Shikamaru 🍃
Shikamaru is the type of guy who tries to do things by the book. His father was a strong example who taught him how to treat a girl. Still, even for him, the first kiss is hard.
Though he’s confident, the first time he told you he liked you was difficult. Scratching his head awkwardly, Shikamaru leaned against a rail near the Naka river. He tried to take your love for nature into account, planning the moment flawlessly so that bringing you here would bring a smile to your face.
“Even if my plan worked, I admit it’s hard to say what I have to say.”
Your lips tilted upward, already knowing what he would say, but you kept quiet, giving him the space to speak. He turned toward you, knowing it would feel strange not to look you in the eyes.
“I like you. And I’d like us to be together. Obviously, only if that’s what you want too.”
Even if you teased him with a smirk, your flushed cheeks gave away how you felt.
“I know, Shikamaru. I think it’s obvious that I like you too.”
He nodded, throat dry, and looked away.
“Right.” He exhaled once, then stepped closer to you with only one thought in mind. His lips slightly parted, maybe even more in love with your smug, adorable expression. “Can I kiss you?”
Now it was your turn to get so flustered you couldn’t even tease him. You just nodded. His steady hand moved hesitantly to your cheek, keeping you in place as he kissed you. He didn’t push, just kissed you enough for both of you to confirm that your feelings were real.
⸻
Gaara 🍃
Gaara is a humble man. He doesn’t expect or ask for anything from anyone. Instead, he prefers being kind to everyone. It took him a while to realize that you were receiving something different. That he kept seeking you out, trying to meet in the same places just to spend more time with you, excusing it by claiming he was just being a good Kazekage offering help. Temari was the one who scolded him. She had already noticed you weren’t indifferent and gave him the final push to come find you in your office.
When he entered, Gaara hid the flowers behind his back, his hand slightly trembling.
“Gaara? Did something happen?”
He had told you to call him by name many times, insisting until you finally did. You stood up from your desk and came in front of him, eyes curious.
Your gaze fell on the bouquet and your eyes widened, thoughts rushing through your mind. Gaara forced himself to remain composed and maintain eye contact, even if the shy look on his face revealed his vulnerability.
“They’re for you.” A silence followed as he handed them to you, searching for his words. “I’m sorry if I’ve been vague until now, unsure if you would feel pressured by the situation so I fear I may have wasted your time. I… I want to confess that I feel something more than friendship for you and I hope I’m not the only one.”
You hid your emotional face in your hands, delighted by the moment. You hugged him, wrapping your arms around his neck with the flowers still in your grip, making Gaara gasp in surprise. He stood frozen with his hands in the air for a second too long before hugging you back. You whispered softly, confirming what he had hoped.
“I’ve never felt anything like this for anyone. I…I feel the same way, Gaara.”
You lifted your head. Your eyes and his held only love, your faces close.
“I’m glad.” Gaara whispered back before leaning in slowly to kiss your lips. Gentle, but full of longing.

wc: 1.3k
feat. gaara, yamato, kakashi
a/n: honestly, this whole thing should be classed as a ramble. sorry if it's a bit funky at times ;; just some ideas i wanted to get out hehe
GAARA
gaara loves it when you push his hair up out or his forehead so you can plant a kiss on the kanji carved there. part of him was worried it’d make you uncomfortable- like you’d be put off by the fact that he put it there himself. not once did you show any adverse reaction to the marking, the story, or the meaning. you always accepted gaara. every part of him.
“missed you.” he hummed into the curve of your neck, holding you from behind. he had just gotten home from a drawn-out council meeting. poor boy, dealing with some of those personalities takes so much out of him. “i missed you too, cutiepie.” you always treat him like such a baby. he didn't hate the nickname, it was just so... lovey. sometimes a bit of a shock to hear. he'll admit it grew on him though. he loves whatever you call him- because it's you. “you hungry? ‘s almost done.” you wiggled, trying to escape his grasp so you could stir the veggie medley you had going on the stove. he relented, steps quieting as he disappeared to shed his vest on a rack and reappeared on the other side of the island counter, pulling out a stool to settle into.
you put extra care into making his plate, loading it with some extra meat and rice. not gonna let him get by without some veggies though. you set both your plates on the counter, shuffling around to sit on gaara’s left. he always waits.
you pull the plates towards the two of you and look to gaara with pride. “smells good,” he hums, snaking an arm around your side to pull you into a kiss, “thank you, lovely.” you beam, cupping his cheek to pull him into one too. one on the cheek, and one on the kanji. “thank me by eating your veggies this time.” you tease.
your focus is back on the food before you can notice the blush crawling up his face.
YAMATO
yamato can’t take it when you’ve got your fingers in his hair. he’s like a puppy, in a way. scritches, pets, brushes, all of it has got him instantly relaxing in your arms.
“morning, pretty lady.” you hear your husband rumble. ah, you’d fallen asleep. eyelashes flutter to find him, settling on his smooth, barely clothed figure above you, ruffling his hair with a towel. “mm. how long have you been home?” you murmur, the smell of eucalyptus and mint hitting your nose.
“not long. wanted to shower before i cuddled up to you,” he states, that sultry smooth voice washing over you. he tosses the towel to the side and is quick to get underneath your blanket. observant, this one is. he’s already got all the lights off, doors locked, showered and clean for you. just how you like it. you’re a sensitive sleeper- and a bit of a neat freak, always chewing him out for getting his “outside clothes” in the bed or under a blanket.
“mm. how was today?” you murmured, voice still coated in sleep. you pulled yourself up a tad and spread your legs, coaxing him to lay his head on your chest. “fine, mostly just surveillance.” his voice vibrates into your chest, “kakashi had us swap places though- he hates paperwork. always wants to make me do it.”
you can hear his pout. he hates it too. everyone does. and there is so much of it. “my poor baby,” you purr, pulling him further into an embrace. one hand caresses circles into his back, the other coming to rake through his hair. immediately, he sighs and the process of turning him to mush begins.
“mhmmm.” “yeah? you’re my poor baby?” “mm, sure.” “are you fallin’ asleep already?” “mmmmm… no.” amid your little scalp massage, your nails scratch with just the smallest bit of extra pressure, warranting a tiny cry. “what was that for?” he fusses. “lyin’ to me.” “mm-mm. not sleepin’- just comfortable. missed my wife.” the sudden intimate confession makes your heart skip a beat. “hehe- i missed you too, sweetheart.” your fingers go back to combing through each damp strand, coming down to scritch his sideburns and the nape of his neck. he’s practically purring.
enough time has passed for you to assume he’s knocked out on top of you, and before sleep makes you their next victim- you curl in slightly to leave a kiss on the top of his head, running your thumb over the patch before you lay back down. before you can- hooded inky eyes look up to you expectantly. needy man. another kiss, this time on the forehead. you think you’re cute, teasing him this way. with a huff he’s lifting himself up, hovering over you to give you a short-lived kiss on the lips before he’s setting himself down, this time nestled on your shoulder.
such a pampered man. you don’t mind it. his neediness was something you came so close to losing. with that thought you can’t help but squeeze him closer, resting your cheek on the top of his head.
KAKASHI HATAKE
kakashi loves it when you offer to shave his face for him. when you waddle into the bathroom to brush your teeth, just to be greeted by his foamy face- the way your eyes widen with aggravation is the funniest thing to him.
“why didn’t you ask me?” you pout, setting yourself up on the counter in front of him with a huff. “thought you were gettin’ ready for bed.” he hums smugly, relinquishing the single-blade razor to you as you grip the underside of his chin. “not goin’ to bed without you. ‘s quicker when i do it for you too.” your annoyance quickly fading and being replaced by concentration. so cute, he thinks, watching your brows furrow and lips slightly part while you focus on the left side of his face.
he’s in bliss, letting you tug his jaw, chin, ear, whatever it may be, to get at every angle. getting bitched at and manhandled by your pretty little self while he gets to squeeze at your hips and butt? a dream come true.
he doesn’t want it to end, heart stuttering at the feeling of you shifting beneath his grasp and the sound of the razor getting folded in on itself and set down. ‘nooooo…’ he quietly whines, reaching out for you and making the most pathetic grabby hands. grown ass man, by the way.
“quit fussing,” you giggle a bit- quit, you’re supposed to be mad at him. you grab a small washcloth from the rack of neatly folded towels, turning back to his smug little face watching your every move. so annoying, you roll your eyes. you love his attention.
you beckon him to lean over after wetting the cloth. you wipe his face with warm water so gently- like he’s gonna break underneath your touch. it’s nice. you’re gentle with him. so so gentle. “looks good.” you hum. “always looks good when you do it.” he hums back. “you’ve not even looked.” “don’t gotta. i know you always do good.” so cheeky. you use the hands you have on his face to turn him to the vanity mirror. “see? jus’ like i said. always looks good.”
it really does. kakashi’s looking at himself like he’s the hottest guy he’s ever seen. honestly, he probably is. little twerp. you won’t admit it, but the praise he mumbles while he admires your work is going right to your head.
after you pat the alcohol into his skin and give him a kiss for enduring it like a ‘big, strong man’ you’d coo in the most demeaning tone, you’re finally able to brush your teeth. kakashi is in heaven this entire time, unable to keep his hands off you and definitely unable to keep his eyes off.
the nighttime routine the two of you share is one of the best parts of kakashi’s day. he makes that fact known when he’s sleeping outside during a mission and wailing over the fact that his face feels dirty or dry. bless his teammates. though, it’s less the actual routine and more you being there with him during it all. taking care of him.
before you know it you’re being scooped up in his arms and lightly tossed into the bed. he’s just so full of feelings- feelings for you. others may not have guessed it (they probably have with how much he whines when he's away from you,) but this man is such a sap.
you'd been testing him the entire mission, teasing him with wandering hands—moaning in his ear just to get a reaction. now, it was his turn, but Kakshi wasn't a fan of just teasing.

He was watching you with hungry eyes.
It sent a shiver throughout your body and you swallowed, sinking lower, attempting to use the water as a cover.
“Where are the others?” Your arms wrapped around your chest, treading further into the lake.
Why?
You cursed internally.
Of all people, did it have to be him?
And why the hell was he walking closer!?
“Jesus—Kakshi!” you shouted. “Stop—you’re getting too close.”
“Well,” he stated, “You don’t own the water.”
Your face burned and your jaw worked around words you knew you should refrain from saying. “No, but—
“But what?” His narrowed eyes slid over to yours in the darkness, almost like he wanted to see your reaction as he undid the clasps that held his vest together.
Your eyes travelled his upper body as he discarded the thing, admiring the way his muscles flexed and imagining he was doing it on purpose, just for you.
“—san?” He hooked a finger under his shirt and pulled it over his head. You choked on nothing and turned away, heart racing under your burning skin. Was he insane?
“You can’t be serious.” But the sound of splashing water told you he absolutely was.
“Kakasi—
You went rigid when you heard him forcing his legs through the water, you pulled your hands away and snuck a peek behind you, watching the water pool just above his waist. You worked your jaw and face forward again.
“Can’t believe you're still wearing that stupid mask.”
He was closer now, more than hear, you could feel the difference in the air pressure.
His body sloshed through the water in the night, each step taking him closer to you.
Your mouth watered at the thought of him seeing you in such a state. You had to get away—you had to do something—but what? If you moved, he would surely see you. Would he like what he saw?
No—that didn’t matter. Not at a time like this. You and Kakashi were mission partners—at least for now—and there was no way he’d let that all fall apart just because you’d relentlessly teased him. You were joking—always joking—he had to know that right?
You weren’t actually planning on following through with any of your insinuations—besides, Kakashi was well known around the village for being reserved. He spent more time on missions than he did in the village—that had to mean something.
Right.
You scoffed.
He was just teasing you.
Before your mind could rationalize any further solutions, Kakashi’s lower abdomen hit your shoulder and the space between your legs pulsed without warning.
He pressed against you. “Want me to take it off?”
You couldn’t breathe—couldn’t speak.
You.
You had caused this.
Had said one–too many flirty lines, had run your hands down his chest more times than could be considered appropriate.
No.
There was never an appropriate time to do that, was there?
So why were there so many memories of you crossing that line? Why were there so many fantasies you fell asleep to? Fantasies about him—about him doing exactly this to you.
Why hadn’t you listened to his warnings?
“Quiet now?” His hands reached under your arms, yanking you out of the water before you could stop him.
You squeaked, failing to cover your breasts as he fondled them. He was naked. Absolutely bare and he didn’t seem to care about anything but torturing you.
His hardening length pressed against your back and he breathed against your ear. “Do you feel that?” He pinched your nipples chuckling at the whines the act elicited.
Your breathing was audible now, every single dirty thought you’d ever had rushing to the forefront of your mind. Why—why was Kakashi in every single one? Why was he always there at the center of your desire? A shiver crawled up your spine when Kakashi removed a hand. He tangled it in your hair before you could move away while his other hand must have moved to pull his mask down because not even a second later, his hot mouth was on your neck.
His lips acted like a suction, his tongue swirling around your sensitivity, sucking at your skin like it had personally betrayed him.
Your moans filled the space around the lake and his body pressed closer. His length threatened to slip between your ass. You felt his smile as he pried your thighs open, allowing his cock to do just that.
Your legs grew weaker and your thighs began to shake with anticipation as the tip of his cock met the folds of your innocence.
His mouth worked around every inch of your upper body. You were helpless to stop him—only because you had absolutely no want to.
You had realized it the second his hands first touched your bare skin.
He was more than a fantasy.
More than a need.
To you, Kakashi was a craving.
An addiction you’d never even knew you had.
Not until tonight.
As the moon waned, your body became a memorial for bruises. His teeth drug across the tips of your ears, his laugh dark against your cries.
“I hope you remember this.” He said, playing with your entrance. Juices spilled out and around his fingers, prepping your cunt for himself.
It was only when he lined his tip up did you finally manage to say, “Wait—what if—
“So what?” He teased your lips, sliding his tip back and forth—a line of sin. “If you fall pregnant then so what?”
He allowed himself to slide a little further inside; your throat worked itself around your own spit, trying to keep yourself from falling apart at the mere possibility of Kakashi fucking you right now.
Being filled with his seed, bringing his child into this world, and everything after that simply from your own lust. It was so wrong the way thoughts like that lit a fire under you. Because in all the midst of your teasing him and ignoring the signs of his growing aggression––you had also failed to be honest with yourself.
If you’d ever brought a life into this world—the only man you could ever picture it being with was your mission partner. Maybe that was a little depressing because his reputation with romance wasn’t at all perfect—because he was a closeted pervert and you had no way of knowing what he did in his free time away from the village—and even now, nothing has changed.
“You’d have to take responsibility.” Your words were breathy, and your eyes squeezed shut right after because he’d pushed himself deeper, but you weren’t taking no for an answer. That was how things had to be, there was no way he didn’t know that; no way he hadn’t taken that into account before deciding to get undressed with you present.
He let your hair fall helplessly across your shoulder and reached for your hips, leaning just above your head. He was a wolf holding a lamb hostage, a predator when he said, “Then I’ll be fucking you until we get results.”
Your next thought died instantly as he buried his cock as far as it would go. His deep moans mixed with your own and he repeated the process at a very slow and very brutal pace.
Your hands braced against the little rock wall in front of you, taking every thrust with new whimpers.
As his hip met your ass, Kakashi’s movements grew erratic.
He thought of every time she’d teased him.
Every random time she’d moaned in his ear.
Every time she smirked when she got away with getting him hard.
She was a fucking tease. She needed to be put in her place—he’d thought about that a long time. He considered the ways in which he’d bend her over, maybe he’d make it hurt at first—maybe he’d spank until she begged him to stop, tears in her little slutty eyes.
She’d just been asking for him to give in—to throw all his self-control out the window. Part of him thought maybe this is what your end goal had been all along. Perhaps, she was just as sick as he was—Kakashi smiled—no, there was no one more disgusting than him. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t be a bad influence.
He shoved her down, forcing her over the slab of stone. His fingers dug into the soles of her hips—he hoped he bruised her—wanted her to look in the mirror and remember what he had done tonight—and what he had planned for the future.
He was cursing under his breath, bottoming up with every single thrust. He wanted her to know—to understand that she was his to claim—her tiny little pussy his to use.
God she felt euphoric, he knew he was rough, maybe more so than most, but she took him at face value—she always had… And Kakashi thought maybe she’d known exactly what she was getting into when she started toying with his head.
His jaw locked and his muscles tensed when he quickened his movements, wanting to destroy her before she ever had a chance to question his authority. His throat tightened and he wondered what she’d look like on all fours, choking on him. He bet she’d be so pretty—so fucking pretty.
And when she refused?
Kakashi scoffed.
She would be forced down and she would obey him.
She would spread her legs whenever he told her to. She would take his cock every. Fucking. Time.
He was already anticipating the next time she spoke out of turn—the next time she tried to play coy with him, the next time she had the urge to tease or taunt him.
Even when she wasn't a brat—when she was on her best behavior, if he felt like it, she would most deifntley listen, or she’d face the consequences.
idk just thinking about kakashi with his hair down when he come back home exhausted, sigh of relief leaving his lips when he sees you laying on the couch, grinning when your eyes meet.
“how were the kids today?” you giggle, getting up from your position and meeting your lover halfway. you don’t hesitate throwing you arms over his shoulders, fingers finding themselves in the hair taking purchase at the nape of his neck.
kakashi groans, “those little demons will be the death of me” he mumbles, “maybe if you came around they’d behave a bit.” you can’t help but place a gentle kiss on his still masked nose.
“mmm, maybe I’ll show up with some cookies tomorrow” you suggest, kakashi all but lights up, following you into the kitchen as he shrugs off his uniform. “I’m almost done with dinner if you wanna shower first,” you say, turning around and seeing your lover closer than expected.
it’s a sight for sore eyes, to see the silver haired jonin without his mask and headband, hair messy and a small grin on his lips. “wanna help me shampoo my hair, my love?” you can’t help but roll your eyes at him, shaking your head and pulling him closer to you.
“wanna eat burnt scraps?” kakashi smiles, nodding his head as his eyes linger on your lips, wasting no time in cupping your cheek with one hand and crashing his lips onto yours.
“i can always pick something up,” he mumbles against your lips, smiling when you chase his lips for one say taste. you let out a small sigh, debating your options before looking over at the food.
“or you can go shower and we can make out before this soup is done cooking,” it’s less of a suggestion and more of a command by the tone of your voice, and kakashi always listens to you. he’s out of the kitchen and in the shower in moments, making you bite back laughter as you stir the pot of soup.
a/n: helloooo something short and aimless because i have kakashi brain rot again :P #needthat i hope u guys like it mwahaha
Your son, Namere, had a strict policy when it came to your attention: it belonged to him, and him alone. In his ultimate defense of your affections, he struck—effectively breaking the romantic tension with the sheer force of toddler jealousy.
๑໑545 words, fluff, father/son moment, biting a nose (nobody is harmed), etc๑໑
Your husband was finally off the floor, showered and dressed in a comfortable Henley, having successfully navigated the messy phase of Namere’s playtime. He was now perched on the arm of the sofa, watching Namere push his cars off the coffee table and onto the rug.
You were curled up in the corner of the sofa, scrolling through your phone, a faint, contented hum vibrating under your skin from the memory of the night before. He leaned over, quiet and quick, nudging your phone out of the way with his nose. He pressed a long, soft kiss to your temple, lingering there, claiming a quiet moment of affection.
“Mmm,” you sighed, leaning into the warmth of it. Instantly, a small, demanding presence materialized between you.
Namere, alerted by the sudden lack of attention and the clear evidence of shared affection, dropped his bright red fire truck and plastic civilian. He scrambled onto the sofa, squeezing his sturdy little body between you and your husband.
“No!” Namere announced firmly, throwing his arms up and wrapping them around your face. He buried his cheek against your jaw, effectively cutting him off. “My mama!”
You both burst out laughing—a soft, conspiratorial sound. “Oh, is that right, little man?” he teased, reaching out and gently hooking a finger around Namere’s collar. “Your mama? I think she belongs to me. I was here first.”
Namere just squeezed your face tighter, his breath hot and determined against your ear. “No! Mine!”
His dad, fully amused, lowered his head and blew a soft, playful raspberry right onto the exposed skin of Namere's neck. Namere let out a high-pitched, surprised giggle, wriggling to get away, but he held him gently in place, pressing another soft, teasing kiss to the top of the boy’s head.
“You gotta share, buddy,” he insisted, his voice warm with laughter. “She’s my sweetie, too.”
Namere squinted at him, his face screwed up in concentration, clearly not liking the competition. He paused for a beat, processing the injustice of the situation. Then, quick as a viper, Namere lunged forward and clamped his small teeth gently but firmly right onto his nose.
He gasped—not from pain, but from sheer surprise—and pulled back instantly. “Ow! Hey, little monster!”
You were laughing so hard you had tears in your eyes, covering your mouth with your hand. Namere, successful in his territorial defense, immediately nestled back into your neck, sticking his tongue out at his dad.
He rubbed his nose, grinning despite the minor attack. He shook his head, leaning back on the armrest, his eyes shining with affection. “You are absolutely shameless,” he told Namere, then looked at you, a slow, knowing smirk curving his lips.
“Guess the little man knows where he gets it from.” You nudged him playfully with your elbow, pulling Namere tight against your chest. “Don’t look at me. I was just minding my business.”
He just sighed happily, resting his hand heavy on your thigh—a claim more effective than any toddler bite. “Mhm. We both know that’s a lie, sweetheart.”
Hi I was wondering if you could write something for Naruto? I read your rules and you said, that it's one of your favourite shows, so I was wondering if you could write something for Kakashi maybe? With a femreader who's Guy's sister? I think that dynamic would be really fun. But if you don't write for Kakashi, or Naruto in general, than just ignore this request. I hope you have a great day!
How Not to Flirt, by Hatake Kakashi
synopsis: When a mysterious new visitor to Konoha quietly captures Kakashi's attention, the famously aloof ninja finds himself stumbling through awkward flirtation, well-meaning interference from Guy, and unexpected moments of connection—until he finally gathers the courage to ask for something real: a proper date.

Part 2
The late afternoon sun cast a soft, golden glow across the rooftops of Konohagakure. The breeze was light, just enough to rustle the pages of a worn-out book, and the village was quiet—relaxed, even. It was the kind of peaceful lull that came once in a while between missions, and Kakashi Hatake intended to savor every second of it.
He sat atop the roof of his favorite teahouse, legs dangling lazily over the edge, one hand turning the page of Icha Icha Paradise, the other absently twirling a dango stick he'd long since cleaned of sweets. His single visible eye was calm, focused, almost dreamy as he soaked in the words of Jiraiya's ridiculous, overly dramatic story.
A sigh escaped him. Bliss. Utter, uninterrupted bliss.
That is… until something shifted in the periphery of his vision.
Kakashi glanced down casually—habit more than interest—but the moment he did, he blinked, his eye lingering.
Someone was walking through the village square. A woman. Unfamiliar.
That wasn't particularly odd in and of itself; visitors passed through Konoha from time to time. But there was something about you that made him pause.
You weren't in a hurry, just strolling along the merchant street with an easy, graceful pace, pausing here and there to glance at shopfronts or exchange a word with a vendor. Nothing flashy. No wild colors or flashy chakra. But you had a presence. There was an effortless charm in the way you moved, the tilt of your head when you smiled, the way the light hit your hair.
He had no idea who you were.
And that… was strange.
Kakashi prided himself on being aware of everyone in the village—particularly interesting people. Yet here you were, unknown and completely unbothered, existing in his world like you'd always been there. Like he was the one out of place.
He closed his book slowly, tucking it under his arm.
"Well now…" he murmured, an eyebrow raising just slightly. "That's new."
For a moment, he just sat there, watching you wander between stalls. You laughed at something the old lady from the bakery said. It was a lovely sound.
Kakashi blinked. What are you doing, staring like a genin with a crush? He shook his head and stood up. Time to be cool. Casual. Collected.
He hopped down from the roof in one smooth motion, landing silently behind the teahouse and adjusting his hitai-ate over his eye. A deep breath.
"You're an elite jōnin," he muttered under his breath. "You've faced rogue ninja, strong enemy agents, fought countless battles… How hard can one conversation be?"
Another breath.
And then he turned the corner to the market street, heading toward you with a calm, practiced gait that definitely did not betray the quiet panic rising in his chest.
Kakashi spotted you near the dango stall, admiring a basket of sakura-shaped treats like they were tiny works of art. He adjusted his mask nervously, then straightened his back, mentally flipping through lines from Icha Icha like cue cards.
Something smooth. Something witty. Something romantic, but subtle.
You turned just as he approached, your eyes meeting his with a casual smile.
"Hi," he said.
...That was it. Just hi. And somehow, even that sounded off.
"Hi," you echoed, friendly but a little cautious—like someone trying to place a familiar face.
Kakashi cleared his throat. "The, uh... dango here is… famously round."
You blinked.
He blinked back.
Famously round? What kind of line was that?
"Oh," you said after a pause, tilting your head in amusement. "I guess that's… a good thing?"
You gave a small chuckle and looked back at the basket, and Kakashi felt his face heat beneath the mask. What was he doing? He fought ANBU-level threats with a straight face, and here he was talking about the shape of dumplings.
"Well, enjoy," he said quickly, then turned on his heel and walked away before he could make it worse.
Fast. Silent. Retreat.
The next day, you were seated at Ichiraku Ramen, happily digging into a steaming bowl of miso with extra pork. Kakashi happened to be walking by. (Okay, fine, loitering nearby on purpose, but that was beside the point.)
He lingered outside the curtain, took a breath, and stepped inside casually—as casually as a man panicking internally could.
You looked up as he entered, gave him that same friendly smile. "Hey."
"Hey," Kakashi said. Better than hi, right?
He sat two stools over, trying not to stare. Ayame greeted him, and he ordered whatever the day's special was without really hearing it. His mind was scrambling for an opening line that didn't involve the shape of food.
"I see you like ramen," he said after a moment.
You paused mid-slurp, glanced sideways. "...Is there anyone who doesn't?"
Kakashi considered that. "I… guess that's true."
Silence. Except for the sound of ramen being eaten.
You gave him a curious look. "You're Kakashi Hatake, right? I think my brother mentioned you."
He blinked. "Oh?"
You nodded. "Said you were kind of mysterious. And always late."
Kakashi scratched the back of his neck, the smallest smile forming behind his mask. "Sounds like a fair assessment."
You laughed softly, then returned to your bowl. Kakashi opened his mouth to say more—something clever, maybe something mildly flirtatious—but the words caught somewhere in his throat. Instead, he stared into his untouched bowl like it held the secrets of the universe.
After a few more minutes of awkward silence, he mumbled something about "needing to check on a mission report" and slipped out, mortified.
The next afternoon, you sat alone on a grassy slope just outside the village, watching a group of young ninja spar in the distance. The sunlight streamed through the trees, casting patterns across the clearing, and you looked entirely at peace.
Kakashi spotted you on his way back from the training grounds, stopping short when he saw you there—serene, soft-eyed, your focus completely absorbed by the scene before you.
He stood there for a solid minute, trying to decide what to do.
This time, he approached a little slower, careful not to startle you. You turned your head as he neared, giving him that calm, patient smile.
"Watching the genin train?" he asked.
"Mmhmm. It's kind of relaxing," you said. "Like watching waves crash or leaves fall. There's chaos, but also something rhythmic about it."
Kakashi sat down a few feet away, nodding quietly. "I never thought of it that way."
You gave him a side glance, studying his profile. "You don't talk much, do you?"
"I talk," Kakashi replied. "Just not always well."
You laughed again—warmer this time. "I appreciate the honesty."
It was probably the longest and smoothest interaction yet. And Kakashi was starting to feel okay—maybe even comfortable—until one of the genin in the field tripped spectacularly and face-planted into a tree.
You gasped. Kakashi snorted.
You both looked at each other, then burst into quiet laughter.
He felt his chest ease a bit. Like maybe he could talk to you after all.
But then, just as he opened his mouth to say something else—something more honest this time—your attention turned back to the field. And once again, the words never came.
So he sat there with you in silence, the good kind, trying to work up the nerve for next time.
The air was soft and golden again, just like the day you first arrived. Kakashi had decided—finally—that he was going to talk to you properly this time.
You were back at the clearing by the training grounds, your legs tucked beneath you on a worn-out blanket, watching a small group of academy students practice throwing kunai. The breeze carried the scent of early summer—grass, warm earth, a hint of blooming plum.
Kakashi approached quietly. He'd rehearsed it all this time. Nothing too flashy. Just a compliment, maybe a question about your home village. Keep it natural. Be yourself.
Not the weird, mumbling version of himself you'd gotten the past few times.
You turned to him with a soft smile as he drew near. "Hey."
"Hey," he said back, and… hey, that actually came out normal.
He sat beside you—closer than usual, not quite touching, but enough that the warmth between you was noticeable.
"I never did ask," he started, voice low, "what brings you to Konoha."
You tucked a stray strand of hair behind your ear. "Oh, just visiting family. My brother lives here."
"Oh?" Kakashi tilted his head, interest sparking. "I didn't know that."
"Yeah, he's—"
"MY YOUTHFUL SISTER!!"
The forest exploded in noise as a blur of green and energy launched from the trees behind you. Before Kakashi could react, a very familiar arm slung itself dramatically around your shoulders.
Might Guy beamed between the two of you, grinning like the sun itself had given him caffeine.
"I've been looking for you everywhere!" he cried, ruffling your hair with all the finesse of a charging bull. "Ah! It fills my heart with flames of joy to find my two favorite people sitting together like this!"
Kakashi sat frozen, like someone had hit pause on his entire life.
Favorite… people?
Guy clapped him on the shoulder so hard it nearly knocked him into the grass. "Kakashi! My eternal rival! I've been meaning to introduce you to my sister for YEARS! Can you believe this timing?! It's destiny!!"
Kakashi made a strangled noise somewhere between a chuckle and a plea for help. "You… never mentioned you were Guy's sister."
Guy gasped. "What?! But I talk about you both ALL THE TIME!"
"Suspiciously often," you added with a teasing glance. "But I always assumed Kakashi was just some long-suffering coworker you made up for dramatic effect."
Guy wiped away a single imaginary tear. "Ah, no, my dear sister! He is very real—and very cool! And now that you moved here and you two finally met, you can both be part of my next sibling-rival-training-triangle-dynamic!"
Kakashi blinked. "Your what?"
"Imagine it!" Guy shouted, already half-posing. "The three of us! Sibling bonds! Rival bonds! Emotional growth! Group stretching!"
You leaned over to Kakashi, voice just loud enough to be heard over your brother's monologue. "Is he always like this with you?"
Kakashi sighed through his nose, eye crinkling in tired fondness. "Unfortunately. Yes."
Guy was now doing air kicks in the background. Birds scattered. The genin in the field had stopped training entirely to watch.
Kakashi took a long breath. So much for that peaceful, romantic moment.
So much for anything, really.
But…
You looked at Kakashi again, and this time, your smile had a bit more understanding in it. A little amusement. And maybe, just maybe… a flicker of interest.
And Kakashi—awkward, flustered, hopelessly out of his depth—felt the smallest spark of hope.
Maybe this wasn't over yet.
Even if he had to fight through a thousand loud declarations of youth… He was Kakashi Hatake, after all.
Guy was still mid-monologue. He had, by now, shifted from "emotional triangle training" to suggesting the three of you form a synchronized taijutsu squad that wore matching jumpsuits. His arms flailed like flags in a windstorm, and his eyes gleamed with pure, unfiltered enthusiasm.
"—and then, with our chakra flowing in perfect harmony, we could leap into battle as a single, unstoppable force of youth! I'll start sketching costume designs immediately—"
"Guy-sensei," came a calm, deliberate voice from across the training field.
Neji stood at the edge of the clearing, arms folded, expression a perfect mixture of stoic and vaguely put-out. "You said you'd be leading our sparring evaluations this afternoon."
Guy's eyes widened in horror. "Oh no! I did! I was so caught up in the beauty of sibling reunion and the spirit of connection that I forgot my duty as an instructor! What shame!"
"You're only five minutes late," Neji said dryly. "But we've already begun rotations."
"I SHALL MAKE AMENDS!" Guy bellowed, turning back to you and Kakashi. "Forgive me! I will return later with snacks, scrolls, and synchronized workout ideas!"
He shot you finger-guns. "And you, little sister, be nice to Kakashi! He's very emotionally repressed and doesn't know how to talk to a lady!"
Kakashi visibly flinched. You covered your mouth to hide your snort of laughter.
And with a dramatic puff of dust and a war cry, Guy sprinted off into the trees after Neji, shouting apologies and battle metaphors as he vanished from sight.
Silence, for the first time in what felt like an hour.
You and Kakashi sat still for a second, blinking into the empty space where he'd been.
"…He's a lot," you said finally, lips twitching.
"He's… Guy," Kakashi offered with a shrug, though there was the barest fondness in his voice.
You turned to face him a bit more directly, brushing your fingers through the grass. "So you really didn't know I was his sister?"
"No clue," Kakashi admitted. "I've been out on missions so much, I've probably missed every visit you've ever made."
"Lucky me, then," you said, half-teasing, half-genuine. "Caught you during your elusive downtime."
Kakashi glanced over at you. The sunlight was catching in your hair again, and for the first time, the atmosphere between you wasn't charged with awkward tension or loud declarations of youth. It was… calm.
He hesitated for only a moment before replying, "Well… I'm glad I didn't miss this one."
You tilted your head slightly, curiosity blooming in your expression. "Do you always flirt this awkwardly, or is it just a me thing?"
Kakashi's visible eye widened slightly in panic, then narrowed with a faint touch of dry amusement. "I don't know what you're talking about. That wasn't flirting. That was… breathing in your general direction."
You laughed, warm and surprised, and Kakashi smiled under the mask. It wasn't smooth, but somehow it worked better than any line he'd ever borrowed from Icha Icha.
He leaned back on his hands, looking out at the training field. "So what village did you say you were from?"
"Didn't," you replied, a mischievous twinkle in your eye. "You'll have to ask nicer."
Kakashi hummed, pretending to ponder. "If I ask in full sentences and don't bring up the shape of food, does that count?"
"Depends." You nudged his shoulder gently. "You planning on breathing in my direction again?"
He chuckled—quiet, but real.
And for a little while, the two of you just sat there. No pressure. No declarations. No Guy.
Just the kind of slow, quiet moment that felt like something beginning.
The next time you ran into Kakashi, it wasn't by chance.
It was the day after your quiet moment in the training field, and you were wandering toward the edge of the village with a book tucked under your arm, hoping for a quiet place to read. The late afternoon light slanted through the trees, and as you rounded a bend in the path, you spotted him.
Kakashi stood in a clearing, arms crossed, eye focused on the dummy in front of him. He didn't move—just stood there for a few long moments, like he was waiting for something. Then, without a sound, he vanished.
Your eyes widened slightly. Fast.
A second later, three well-placed kunai struck the dummy's pressure points dead-on. Then a fourth thunked into the forehead of a nearby tree with a little paper tag attached—harmless, but clearly a subtle, controlled explosive. The kind that knocked out without wounding.
He appeared again, standing calmly just a few feet from where you'd paused.
"Oh," you said, raising an eyebrow. "Is this… your idea of a casual hello?"
He blinked, then gave the smallest shrug. "I thought I'd practice. Didn't expect an audience."
"Mmm." You stepped forward, arms folded loosely over your chest. "Practicing being cool and mysterious?"
His eye crinkled. "It comes naturally."
You snorted softly. "Does it also come naturally to dramatically explode trees to impress women?"
There was a tiny beat. "…That was a demonstration. Not a seduction tactic."
"Really?" you teased. "Because I'm feeling very seduced."
Kakashi coughed. "That's not… I mean, I wasn't—"
You stepped a little closer, eyes playful. "You know, if you keep doing things like that, I might start to think you're trying to show off."
He looked at you, unreadable for a moment behind that ever-present mask. Then he lifted a hand, rubbing the back of his neck with exaggerated casualness. "And if I were?"
"Well," you said, pretending to think, "then I'd probably tell you that exploding trees are less impressive than someone who can actually hold a conversation without panicking halfway through."
His shoulders sagged slightly. "Ouch."
"I'm teasing," you said gently, your smile softening. "You're doing much better than the dango comment."
Kakashi sighed dramatically. "You'll never let that go, will you?"
"Absolutely not."
You both laughed, and this time, the tension wasn't awkward—it was easy. Familiar. Kakashi's posture relaxed slightly, and his hand dropped to his side as he turned to walk beside you along the edge of the trees.
"So," he said, voice low, "what book are you reading?"
You held it up. Tales of the Silver Hawk, the kind of cheesy, over-the-top drama with swordfights and longing gazes that made for the best guilty pleasure reading.
Kakashi stared at the cover for a long second. "...Is that the one where the prince pretends to be a bandit, but also secretly writes poetry under a fake name?"
"Exactly," you said, delighted.
"…I've read that."
Your head tilted toward him. "Really? Didn't peg you for a romance-and-bad-disguises kind of guy."
"I read a lot," he muttered. "Research."
"Oh sure," you said. "Like how Icha Icha Paradise is secretly about chakra theory and interpersonal conflict."
He hesitated. "It… kind of is."
You gave him a sidelong glance. "You're lucky you're cute."
Kakashi stumbled slightly.
You kept walking, unfazed.
"Sorry," you added, half-smirking. "Didn't mean to ruin your cool guy image."
"You didn't," he said quickly—too quickly.
You stopped, turning to face him fully. "Hey, for the record… I like this version of you more. The not-so-smooth one. The guy who stumbles over words and reads trashy romance novels but still manages to save a training dummy from imaginary attackers."
Kakashi met your gaze quietly. "That's good. Because I'm… not really the smooth type."
"I can tell," you said, smile tugging at the corner of your lips.
A breeze passed between you. The forest rustled.
And for a second, Kakashi looked like he wanted to say something else. Something honest. But instead, he just nodded, eyes soft.
The sun stood high by the time the two of you wandered toward the edge of the forest. The trees had thinned into tall shadows stretching long across the grass, and the village's sounds were distant now—muted, softened.
You spotted a spot beneath an old tree with roots like gnarled fingers curled into the earth. The bark was silver-gray, worn smooth by wind and weather. You dropped onto the mossy ground without a word, setting your book beside you.
Kakashi hovered for a second, then sat a few feet away, back resting lightly against the trunk, his own book slipping easily into his hand as if summoned.
But instead of opening it, he looked at you. You were brushing a bit of grass from your palm, casually, like the silence didn't bother you in the slightest. It didn't, really.
Still, Kakashi cleared his throat softly. "So," he said, his voice quiet but warm, "you grew up in the hills, right? Outside Hoshigakure?"
You glanced at him, mildly impressed. "Yeah. That's not a detail people usually remember."
He shrugged one shoulder, eye curving faintly. "I remember things that matter."
You paused, letting that settle between you. Then: "I used to hate it there, when I was younger. Too quiet. I thought it meant nothing interesting ever happened. I didn't realize until I left how rare it is to be somewhere peaceful."
Kakashi's head tilted, curious. "So why didn't you stay? What brought you to Konoha, besides family?"
"I wanted more," you said honestly. "Something different. Something that didn't look like the same path everyone else was walking. I guess I hoped… the leaf might surprise me."
He nodded slowly. "It does that. Not always kindly."
You turned a bit more toward him, the slant of your body inviting. "And you? Everyone knows the legend of Kakashi Hatake, of course. But the version in my head used to be taller, with more facial expressions."
That earned a soft laugh from him—brief but genuine.
"Disappointed?" he asked.
You looked at him for a long second. "Not even a little."
Kakashi was quiet for a beat. "I think I stayed here for the people," he said eventually. "Even when things were… hard. They made it worth it. They still do."
There was weight in those words. Not sadness, exactly—but history. A gravity to the things he didn't say.
You didn't press. Instead, you asked, "Did you always want to be a shinobi?"
He took his time answering. "No. I just always was."
That answer made your chest ache in a quiet, understanding way. You nodded.
"I think I'm still figuring out what I want to be," you admitted.
"That's allowed," Kakashi said. "Even here."
You smiled at that, then nudged your book toward him with your elbow. "Do you want to read this next? You'd love it. The prince gets stabbed in the third act by someone who thinks he's still just a bandit."
Kakashi glanced at the worn cover and raised a brow. "Spoilers."
"Oh please," you scoffed. "You're probably five chapters ahead of me in the plot already."
He smirked, a little. "You're not wrong."
Then, without another word, he opened his own book and leaned back. You followed suit, both of you settling in like a pair of old friends who didn't need noise to feel seen.
The forest hummed gently around you—the rustle of wind in branches, the distant chirp of early evening crickets. The sky above turned watercolor blue, tinged with fading gold.
Time passed. You turned a page. So did he.
Now and then, you'd glance at each other over the edges of your books. Never for long. Never enough to break the spell. Just long enough to smile softly and return to the silence.
You didn't speak again for a long time.
And yet, in that shared silence beneath the tree, you learned more about Kakashi than you had all week.
He didn't need to impress you with explosive tags or wild techniques.
This—this quiet, honest companionship—was where he was strongest.
And maybe, you liked him best like this.
By the time the last hints of golden light slipped beyond the horizon, it was too dark to keep reading. The page in your lap blurred into shadow, and the letters refused to stay visible no matter how you turned the book.
You sighed, closing it with a soft thump and stretching your arms above your head.
"Guess we're out of light," you murmured.
Beside you, Kakashi was already tucking his book into the inner pocket of his vest. "Mm. Tragic."
You gave him a playful look. "You can't be that upset. You were pretending not to peek at mine every five minutes."
"I was checking your chapter pacing," he said with mock seriousness. "You skip romantic tension too quickly."
You stood with a small laugh, brushing off your pants. "Well, you're welcome to borrow it and find out how it ends."
Kakashi rose to his feet, the motion fluid. "You offering to lend me your favorite book?"
"Is that sentimental for you?"
"It's practically a proposal."
You huffed a laugh at that, turning to head down the path. "Come on, loverboy. Let's get back before Guy starts another flashmob warm-up on his own."
The forest had gone quiet now—settled into the peaceful hush of twilight. Only your footsteps crunched softly along the path. The air had cooled, and you could see the first stars beginning to dust the dark sky between the trees.
Kakashi walked beside you, his usual slouch a little softer than usual, hands tucked in his pockets. His presence was steady. Comfortable.
"Can I ask you something?" you said, not looking directly at him.
"Always."
"You seem like someone who's always in motion. Missions. Training. Thinking three steps ahead. What do you do when everything's quiet?"
He was silent for a beat too long.
"Read," he said eventually. "Drink tea. Take long walks nowhere in particular."
"That's it?"
"Sometimes," he added, glancing sideways at you, "I sit in a forest with someone interesting and pretend I know how to hold a normal conversation."
You smiled, eyes still on the winding trail ahead. "You're doing better than you think."
They weren't grand admissions—no dramatic confessions or revelations. But somehow, these slow pieces of honesty carried more weight.
And the silence that followed wasn't awkward. It was full. Shared.
By the time you reached the village gates, the lanterns were lit, casting soft pools of gold against the night-dark wood. You walked the last stretch side by side, winding past quiet houses and sleeping gardens.
Then, finally, you stopped outside the modest apartment building Guy was currently sharing with you. You looked up at the second window, light still on.
"Home sweet home," you muttered.
Kakashi followed your gaze. "You really live with him?"
"For now. It's… an experience."
Kakashi's visible eye crinkled. "I can't decide if I'm worried for you or jealous."
Before you could answer, the front door burst open.
"THERE YOU ARE!!" Guy appeared on the step, barefoot, in full green jumpsuit and an apron that said "Hot Noodles, Hotter Youth!" He was holding a ladle.
"I was about to send out a search party! Or start training without you! Or both!" He beamed. "Kakashi! Did you walk her home like a gentleman? So proud of you!"
"…Yeah," Kakashi muttered, posture stiffening instantly. "Something like that."
Guy turned to you, throwing one beefy arm around your shoulder. "Sister! I saved some tofu stew for you! Come! Nourish your youthful soul!"
You blinked. "Wait, you cooked?"
"Of course! You can't build romantic tension on an empty stomach!"
Kakashi made a strange choked sound that was probably meant to be a cough.
You smirked slightly at him over your shoulder. "Thanks for walking me back, Kakashi."
He gave a short nod. "Of course."
You started toward the door, but paused just before Guy could usher you inside.
Turning back, you leaned close—just enough for Kakashi to catch the words.
"Don't be a stranger."
Then you stepped inside, the door closing behind you with a soft click.
Kakashi stood there for a moment, unmoving, in the glow of the porch light. Then, slowly, a small smile tugged at the edge of his mask.
Not a victory. Not a flirt.
Just… the quiet thrill of something beginning.
The next morning began with the scent of something mildly burnt and very suspicious wafting through the small apartment.
You emerged from your room, hair a bit of a mess, squinting toward the kitchen like the hallway itself might be dangerous.
"...Are you cooking again?" you called out, a little wary.
"No!" came Guy's cheerful voice. "I'm crafting sustenance for a legendary breakfast of bonding!"
You froze. "For what?"
Before you could get more answers, Guy appeared from the kitchen with two mismatched mugs and the proud expression of someone who thought "measuring spices" was an attack on creativity.
"I've invited Kakashi!" he declared.
You blinked. "...Here?"
"He's arriving soon," Guy said, handing you a mug filled with what might've once been coffee. "He said yes!"
"Didn't you tell me he never says yes when you ask him to come around," you said, openly shocked. "You've been trying to get him over here for years."
Guy leaned in conspiratorially. "It's because you're here now, dear sister. He's trying to pretend he's casual, but I know Kakashi! I know that man better than I know the burn mark on my own elbow from the Great Curry Incident of '86!"
You opened your mouth, closed it, then sighed. "You're scheming, aren't you?"
"I," Guy said, dramatically placing a hand on his heart, "am facilitating fate."
You didn't have time to respond before there was a knock at the door.
It wasn't loud—just a polite, two-tap knock. But it still made Guy practically vibrate with excitement.
"Rival!!" Guy bellowed, tearing the door open like a game show host. "You came!"
Kakashi stood there, posture relaxed, eye a bit half-lidded with that signature calm detachment—but his presence was a giveaway. He was dressed neatly, hair freshly brushed, and in his hand was a small paper bag from the bakery down the street.
"…I brought croissants," he said simply.
You arched a brow. "Did Guy tell you I hate burnt toast?"
Kakashi gave the smallest tilt of his head. "He said something about 'unifying our breakfast passions through fiery vigor,' so I thought it best to bring backup."
"I knew it!" you said, taking the bag from him gratefully. "You're officially my favorite."
Guy gasped in betrayal.
The three of you settled around the tiny breakfast table—an uneven thing that wobbled every time someone leaned their elbow wrong. There were plates of strange, overly spiced tofu, half-charred eggs, and the glorious safe haven of fresh croissants.
It was chaos.
But oddly charming chaos.
Guy was in rare form, narrating every story with full-body enthusiasm, mimicking battle poses with utensils, and occasionally winking at you so obviously that you had to bite back laughter.
"Remember that time we fought the Mist ninja with nothing but spoons?" he cried.
"There were also three kunai and a scroll," Kakashi corrected dryly.
"Details!" Guy boomed. "But the teamwork! Oh, Sister! You should've seen Kakashi! Leaping across rooftops! Hair in the wind! Eyes blazing!"
You looked at Kakashi, who didn't even look up from spreading jam on his croissant.
"I landed in a dumpster," he muttered.
"Victory dumpster," Guy added.
You leaned your cheek against your palm, smiling. "I can see why you two are rivals. You're like a storm and a rock. Pure chaos meets cool stillness."
Kakashi paused, giving you a sidelong glance. "Which is which?"
"Obviously he's the storm," you said.
"Obviously!" Guy agreed, dramatically swirling his mug. "And you, dear Sister, are the bridge between us! Our youthful harmony!"
Kakashi let out a small sigh, but didn't look all that annoyed. In fact, the corners of his eye crinkled again. Not quite a smile—but close.
After breakfast, the three of you lingered. The morning stretched on. Guy eventually got called away—Lee this time, training request—and he left with the energy of a man who had just placed the final piece of a grand plan into motion.
"I'm leaving you two alone for now!" he called as he grabbed his gear. "Talk about life! Dreams! Romance novels!"
And then he was gone.
The apartment was quiet for the first time all morning.
You and Kakashi sat on the couch, the silence suddenly comfortable again, like slipping into something familiar.
You turned toward him, holding up the bag of croissants.
"You want the last one?"
He gave a slight nod. "Only if we split it."
You broke it in half and handed him his piece.
"So," you said, nudging his knee gently with yours, "what were you expecting when you agreed to this breakfast ambush?"
Kakashi looked at you for a moment, and this time, his eye was unreadable in a different way—not distant, just quiet. Curious.
"Honestly?" he said softly. "I thought it might be… nice."
And it was.
You bit into your half of the croissant, smiling at nothing in particular, the feeling of nice settling warmly in your chest.
Kakashi leaned back against the couch, his arm resting lazily along the top of it. He looked relaxed—but his fingers tapped faintly against the cushion, betraying the low thrum of tension beneath the surface.
You finished your bite, dusting crumbs from your fingertips. "So," you said casually, "was it really the croissants that brought you here?"
He glanced sideways at you. "...Mostly."
You raised a brow, smiling. "Mostly?"
Kakashi didn't answer right away. Instead, he studied you for a moment. Not in that typical, unreadable way—but with something gentler. Focused. Like he was weighing his words instead of hiding behind them.
"I don't usually do this," he said finally.
You tilted your head, curious. "Do what?"
"Get close to people," he admitted. "Not unless I have to. And not like this."
You felt your breath catch just slightly. But you didn't look away.
"I guess I'm... used to people coming and going," he continued, his voice low. "Teams. Missions. Students. Sometimes they stay. Sometimes they don't. It makes it easier not to get too attached."
There was a pause. Then he glanced down at his hands. "But I like seeing you. I like the quiet you bring. The way you don't push. Or expect too much. You're just... here."
You smiled softly. "So, you're saying you like me."
His visible eye squinted slightly. "That wasn't subtle enough?"
"Not even close."
He chuckled under his breath, rubbing the back of his neck. "I really thought I was being smooth."
"You're lucky I like awkward dorks."
"That's a relief," he murmured.
Then suddenly, his head snapped toward the small clock hanging on the wall. His eye widened.
"…I'm late."
You blinked. "For what?"
"My students," he groaned, already standing. "They were supposed to meet me for training an hour ago."
You stood with him. "They're probably all training themselves by now. Or plotting your downfall."
"That's fair." He moved to the door but paused, turning back.
The way he looked at you then—it was different. Like the mask had slipped just a bit more. Not just the one on his face, but the one he wore every day.
"I'd like to see you again," he said quietly. "Properly this time. Not just... bumping into each other in forests or over Guy's cooking experiments."
You tilted your head, teasing. "Are you asking me out?"
He nodded once. "Dinner. No training, no interruptions. Just us."
Your smile grew warmer. "That sounds perfect."
"I'll pick you up tomorrow?" he offered, already half out the door.
"Looking forward to it."
He lingered one second longer, like he wanted to say something else—but instead, he gave you a final little wave, then disappeared with that signature quiet step of his.
You stood in the doorway for a moment, smiling to yourself.
Behind you, Guy's voice rang from the hallway after he had slipped in through the balcony door.
"WAS THAT A DATE REQUEST I HEARD?"
You sighed, already walking away. "Don't make it weird, Guy."
"Too late!!" he cheered.
But none of that mattered—not really. Because even as the apartment erupted with Guy's celebration of "burning love and youthful victory," your mind stayed with the quiet weight of Kakashi's voice, the softness of his gaze, and the promise of something new.
Okay once again, I’m sorry it took me forever to post this but I do hope you like it. Thank you for being so patience!
A little miscommunication trope w/ Kakashi.
You stared at the sight in front of you, your heart in the depths of your stomach. He looked so happy, the corners of his eyes crinkling from how hard he must have been smiling underneath his mask.
A sight he only allowed you to see.
Kakashi was a private man, everyone in the village knew that, but with you he was able to be open and honest. It's what made you fall for him. You two were so close as friends but at first, you thought that's all you two would ever be. Until he made a comment which made you rethink everything.
"I'm sure my perfect girl is out there. I'll meet her at Ichiraku Ramen and we'll share a bowl of her favorite ramen. I know it by heart. And she'll giggle at my corny jokes and let me walk her home at the end of the night. To which we'll kiss under the stars."
Kakashi was a huge romantic, you blamed it on those Make out Tactic books he always read.
When he brought it up to you, the idea of this perfect date at Ichiraku Rame, you were positive he was talking about you. He's the only one who knew your ramen order, and you always laughed at his corny jokes. You brought it up one time in conversations about how the perfect date always ends with a walk home ended with a kiss. So you got dressed in a cute outfit, one you knew Kakashi would swoon over, and walked over to Ichirauke Ramen.
But again, the sight in front of you made you freeze, a large lump forming in your throat. Clearly, Kakashi wasn't talking about you. He was talking about someone else. He'd was smiling and laughing with another woman, someone who barley knew, and his hand was on her shoulder as they sat next to each other at the counter.
How did you misunderstand him? He was obviously talking about someone else, not you, and now your heart is shattered. Tears brimmed in the corner of your eyes as you began to slowly back out of the shop, trying to go unnoticed, until you ran into someone.
"Hey, Y/N!" Guy's voice rang out in the small shop. "Wow, you look beautiful. Meeting a special someone tonight?"
Blinking away the tears, you forced your eyes away from Kakashi and up to Guy's face, one filled with confusion when he saw your sad expression. He didn't say anything, simply looking at you then to the couple you were previously gazing at. Realization dawned on him when it clicked on like a light bulb. You never told anyone about your feelings for Kakashi but Guy was always perceptive on these things.
"It's not what-," he began but you cut him with a shake of your head.
"I'm fine. I was just leaving."
Not bothering to stay, you scurried out of the shop, nearly missing the way Kakashi rose from the counter as he realized you were there.
The rain was heavy that night in the village, causing you to be bundled up under your blankets as you watched the water crash against your bedroom window. Your heart was still heavy from earlier but the tears stopped.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, you chastised yourself. How could you be such an idiot to think Kakashi was talking about you?
Even though you were only there for a few moments, you couldn't quite tell if Kakashi and this woman were on a date. Sure they looked pretty warm with each other and his hand was on her shoulder, but he was like this with a lot of people. So it could have met nothing.
But the voice in your head kept telling you it was a date and you missed out on your chance with Kakashi.
Blowing out a shaky breath, you dug yourself deeper into the mattress, trying to let sleep finally take you. You were close, too, ready to forget the embarrassment from tonight, when a persistent knock sounded on your apartment door.
"Go away," you murmured into the pillow, hugging it closer to your chest.
The knocking didn't stop, only getting harder and louder, forcing you to throw the blanket off of you and drag your feet towards the door.
Not bothering to look through the peephole, you swung the door open.
"What?" You grumbled but then sucked in a breath at the sight.
"You stood me up," Kakashi breathed, soaked from the rain, and no mask in sight.
He wore a crooked smile, the light above your door illuminating the birth mark at the corner of his lips.
You blinked, confused. "Wha-what? What are you doing here? You're soaked."
Kakashi stood up straighter, the rain a downpour now. "You stood me up tonight, I was at Ichiraku Ramen waiting for you."
"Really?" You scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest. "Because when I got there, it looked like you were getting pretty comfortable with someone else.
It took Kakashi a moment to realize what you were saying, his brows finally bunching together. "Yoshino? She works at Ichiraku Ramen and was making sure everything was set up for our date tonight."
Our date.
"Wait," you shook your head, letting your arms fall to your sides. "Our date? This perfect date you were talking about was supposed to be with me?"
Kakashi nodded, still wearing a crooked smile. "Of course. Who else would it be with?"
You blinked, still not fully understanding what he was saying. "I still don't understand."
He let out a sigh before his hands reached out to grasp your hips, pulling you into the rain with him. Immediately, you gasped a fit of giggles when the rain quickly soaked both of you now.
"I couldn't walk you home earlier but that doesn't mean I can't kiss you goodnight," he breathed over your lips before slowly, he captured them in a hesitant kiss.
You were still for a moment then in one long breath, your eyes fluttered shut as you fell into Kakashi. Even soaked to the bone, his body radiated heat as he pulled you closer, his lips moving over yours. You clearly let him take control, his tongue slipping inside with experienced ease. You moaned into the kiss, a noise he quickly swallowed, and his teeth nipped and pulled at your bottom lip as he pulled away, needing a second to breathe.
"So, how about a redo date? Tomorrow night?" He asked, eyes full of hope.
You nodded eagerly, brushing away the wet strands of hair from his face.
"I'll be there and won't run away this time," you promised before capturing his lips in another kiss, this one more heated than the last.
Kakashi x Reader for the Milestone Event Week 4 - for @sayumiht
It should have been a small thing, really.
He’s had enough time to worry about implications and the way he’s being perceived, had enough time to grieve a future he’d never have.
Kakashi doesn’t want his wedding to be a big thing, doesn’t want all that many people to attend. His closest friends, maybe his team if they manage to be at the same place without trying to kill each other, and his dogs, of course.
You’d bring your family, and the few friends that he hasn’t invited already, all of you fitting in the confines of his backyard, Guy at the barbecue. Perfect.
But of course, he has to be the damn Hokage.
-
“I was thinking Ivory this time,” Old Hag Hatsume mutters under her breath as he passes her on his way to the office. “And a red sash, symbolic of the Will of Fire.”
He slouches in his chair the moment he makes it there, trying to hide from the world.
But Old Hag Hatsume isn’t the only one who’s having it out for him.
The Yamanakas want him to approve their flower choice for the festivities. They’re planning a whole march, giant Akamichi’s carrying garlands woven in different colors through the streets of Konoha as if anyone could have missed his wedding otherwise.
He tries to be nice, but you’re so much better at that. He’s sure he falls short more than once.
“The people love you,” he’s being told again and again, until he considers snorting coffee straight through his nose or something equally unhealthy.
Shikamaru is smart enough to stay out of his reach for the day, knowing well enough how surely the Hokage gets when his fiancée is away on a mission.
-
“Cake testing!” Guy catches him on the way out of the tower, whisking him away. “And what do you think of tulips in the bridal bouquet? It’s my favorite flower, and if you ask me-”
“No more flowers,” Kakashi demands, tired in more ways than one. “And can we not have cake for dinner, please?”
“But-” Kakashi sends him a look, one that must have been pained enough to reach even his friend's heart, a heart so obsessed with love it usually ignores everything else. “Fine. It is a wise choice to have a healthy dinner before dessert, my rival.”
They end up at the Barbecue Place Asuma used to take his team to, Chouza’s smile lighting up the room as they enter.
Any other day, Kakashi wouldn’t have minded sliding into the booth with him, but he’s tired out today, from paperwork and suggestions and the growing list of guests that he’s supposed to invite to the best day of his life.
Hah. Joke's on them. The best day of his life was meeting you. Or getting over his fears and accepting your love.
Guy pushes him onto the bench across from Chouza, and Kakashi allows it, a little too exhausted to fight back.
Chouza’s wife sends him a tentative smile, her smaller frame almost disappearing next to him. “Tough day?” She asks, gesturing at the dishes ready for consumption. “Take. Be our guest.”
They share a comfortable silence as Guy chatters and Chouza hums under his breath in agreement, the sizzling of the meat just another background noise.
The tension in his shoulders eases a little. He misses you just as much.
-
“Hey,” you find him in bed just a few days later, smelling like exhaustion and his body wash. He pulls you in, barely awake himself. “You showered before waking me?”
“They made me shower at the hospital,” you answer quietly, cuddling into his warmth. “I was filthy.”
“Hmm,” he noses at the side of your face, hears the murmur of his dogs on the other side of the door. “Let’s take a day off then.”
You laugh, tired and warm and his. “Can you do that? You’re the Hokage.”
“Like they’re going to miss me all that much. No one really asks for my opinion on things anyway.”
“Awww, Boo,” you blow a raspberry in his face and link your legs with his under the blankets. “Did your plans for the orphanage get shut down?”
“Nah,” he huffs, rubbing the point between his eyebrows that always starts hurting when he thinks of the wedding planning. “It’s the wedding.”
“Oh,” your voice sounds different now, a little heavier. “Do you want to blow it off?”
Kakashi’s quiet for a while. Thinks of the two of you, unmarried, living like this, forever.
And he thinks of Chouza and his wife at the Barbecue place, how long she’s carried his name now, and he hers in his heart.
He thinks of his own heart beating, longing for something to be sure off.
“I want to marry you,” he admits, quietly, a little scared that it could be taken away any second. “Just not like that.”
You’re quiet after that, warm to the touch and soft in his hold. You press your forehead against his, your nose digging into his cheek. “I’ve got an idea.”
-
Chouza joins their hands under the bright blue sky on a random Tuesday afternoon.
Kakashi’s sure there’s madness at the Hokage tower, what with so many high-ranking Shinobi having the day off, but he couldn’t care less.
Not with your hand in his and that smile on your face.
Guy cries into a tissue the size of his torso, and Kurenai is chasing her toddler through the garden, Mirai dead set on petting all the dogs she can find.
They don’t have a cake, but a tasting platter instead, and Naruto has managed to haggle Ichiraku into bringing over Ramen for everyone without spilling their little secret.
A month from now, or maybe two, Konoha will have a wedding fit for the Hokage.
But today, they have a wedding fit for the two of them.
“Care for a dance?” He asks you when the guests have left, the only remnants a forgotten fairy light blinking in the branches outside. “Mrs. Hatake?”
“Well, wouldn’t you know, Mister Hatake,” you laugh, taking his hand. “I’ve been waiting for nothing else.”
