The first meeting between Kakashi and Zabuza was orchestrated by Kakashi's pack. Kakashi was lonely for a long while. Therefore, his dogs started a search for a human friend for Kakashi. The moment they saw another human with a facemask walking by, they thought it must be fate.

Who knows what Zabuza was planning to do in a park in the late evening without any dogs to walk wearing a mask before meeting his future husband.

sasuke: *opens it* yes?

kakashi: *infomercial voice* have you been feeling depressed since your brother murdered your entire clan? have you been living life for the sole purpose of revenge, days empty of anything but training and pain? well i have the solution for you! introducing . . .

sasuke:

kakashi: *pulls puppy out of nowhere* DOGS! a constant companion, the light of your life and bane of your existence, they'll never leave you alone and and the sheer power of their eyes alone is enough to guilt you out of self hatred! having an animal's existence depending on your ability to wake in the morning and feed them is a GREAT way to stave off the wish to not wake in the morning!

i desperately need Sai and Kakashi interactions to be more common in fics. they have an interesting dynamic that is largely unexplored (mainly due to the lack of fics that include Sai in general, which is honestly criminal) and i NEED them to get acknowledgement. i mean, come on. we let kakashi get so much fic time with the other three. he gets to be an awesome mentor to all members of the original team seven. so why not sai?

sai, who was in root like kakashi. sai, who was rasied with no parents like kakashi. sai, who grew up an adult rather than a child, like kakashi. sai, who fought a war like kakashi before he was even old enough to join a genin team (no matter how silent that war may have been). sai, who is uptight and strict just like kakashi was as a child. sai, who would LOVE to meet kakashi's pack. sai, who has been wearing a mask of indifference for as long as kakashi wore a mask of porcelain.

let kakashi be a dad to his third son, guys. quit forgetting that sai exists.

headcanon that kaksahi sleeps curled up like a dog or wolf because after his dad's death he always slept next to his pack and that was the best way to make it comfortable
