David: I couldn't believe, when the first script arrived for these specials, and it had "The Star Beast adapted from The Star Beast from Doctor Who Weekly", I couldn't believe that a story from my… I must have been, I don't know, 10 or something?.. was put on the telly in 2023. Phil: I know, right? Mad! David: And yet it feels utterly perfect. Vicki: Completely perfect David: It's got that mix of the domestic and the fantastical that has always worked for Doctor Who. It's a sort-of seam that Russell [T. Davies, showrunner] has mined, bringing the family into the story. Phil: Yes, definitely. Well it just fits around this story so beautifully, doesn't it? And how he weaves Donna into that, and her family, is so clever.
