Okay so, I was gonna make a joke of like "just in case someone has kayakophobia" but then I was like, is that how it would be worded since the phobias are named using greek? probably not. So just like as a half joke- half im tired lets hope, I google "fear of kayaks" AND THERES A WIKIPEDIA PAGE FOR KAYAK ANGST?
So apparently it´s not really a fear of the kayak itself but more a fear that often occurs whilst in a kayak, If I understand it right It happens because when hunters are out in the kayaks alone when there's fog and the water is still, the way the sun reflects on it makes it seem like the water and the sky is melting together so the person in the kayak becomes disoriented. It can apparently cause hallucinations and stuff. Research also seems to show that stress contributes to it, it usually occurs among Greenlandic Inuit Seal hunters, which can at times be dangerous. So it's like a combination of disorientation, being alone, and being in a dangerous situation.
Yeah so anyways, CW: Kayaking [Kayak Angst Wikipedia]
If you're curious about the fic here it is
