Baz says as a parting sentiment to a journalist he had been talking to because she had mistaken him in a mask for a local representative at the mayor's office with a similar build and hair color.

From the requests to come back, it seemed like his work there was done and he hoped to see at least a vaguetweet or two about a potential story stemming from his lies over the next day or two.

His path away from seeds of chaos he planted had put him in the path of biggest harbinger of it he had ever met, and the very reason he had shown up unrequested and uninvited.

"Are you still 2023 you or have you morphed into 2024 you before the countdown? If you're not my ex-wife, ignore me."

He knows he has the right person -- she's always been the right person -- but he gives her an out if she wants it because he didn't want to ruin her night.

Dressed in the uniform he used to wear as a mailman before he had been fired, Baz's low effort offering Halloween costume was pulled together by one important addition -- a black wig with bangs that he had stolen from his ex-wife's place a week prior.

It had been months since he had spoken to her directly, though he had left her plenty of subtle messages every time he invaded her space with a set of keys he shouldn't have to move things around just enough that he hoped she would either question her sanity or seek him out for what would be the third living space exorcism he had attended since he met her.

After following the wrong Pitbull, he had course corrected to the right one, orchestrating a run in near the bar that was anything but accidental. Feigning surprise at who was beneath the bald cap, he adjusted the bang obstructing his vision that he's certain she had sniped herself so he could see her better.
