One hour ago all I could hear was the cracks and booms of thunder, the rain hitting my window furiously, like it was desperate for shelter in my home with me. All I could see was droplets thrown at the glass inches from my face, slowly sliding down the window pane, the lightning flashing every so often to light up my room, even for only a second, and I could see the trees brushing the sky with its limbs, seemingly waving at the storm, and the leaves shaking violently. The world seems as though it was angry, violent and chaotic. That was an hour ago. Now the world is completely different, almost calm. Completely darkened except for the lights in the nearest parking lot. The distant sounds of cars on the highways, very faint but still recognizable. The occasional sound of persons on the bike trails behind my home. The wind whispering at me through my window screen, swaying trees and making music in the wind chimes. Bringing in just the right amount of cold night air to force me under the covers. But yet I still keep my window open. These things fascinate me. How fast the world can go quiet from such a raging storm. How different the world could be an hour from now. The storm could find its way back. Harsher and colder this time. The gray, starless, cloudy night could clear, revealing millions of galaxies above our heads. The world could stay the same. It's such an interesting thing to think about when you're laying in bed. But if this is what occupies my mind at times like this. I could really learn to love the world I live in
