Drabble: The Fiddler’s Grandson
“A stóirín, come sit with me.” Maimeó held out her arms, the sun shining through the spindles on her rocking chair.
Kel put down his little red horse and stood up, knees bruised, trousers fraying at the hem. He beamed and sat on her lap.
“Your father says you love my fiddling best, is it true?” She hugged him close, petting through his knotted yellow hair.
“Aye, I want to play too.”
Maimeó kisses his cheek, “I know, so when you’re old enough, you can play on mine and I will teach it to you.”
His eyes, widening, became stars.
