Impact: With a career span of over 4 decades, Babyface’s impact on R&B music is undeniable. Edmond’s career started as a member of Bootsy Collin’s band. It was Collin’s who actually gave Edmond’s the moniker, Babyface because of his youthful appearance. Not only is Edmond’s an illustrious singer, he is/was the go-to songwriter/producer for many artists such as: TLC, Bobby Brown, After 7, Jon B, Celine Dion, Lil Wayne & Beyonce, just to name a small few. He started the groundbreaking label with his former bandmate from The Deele & business partner L.A. Reid called LaFace Records, which was the premier label of Atlanta’s hot music scene in the early 90′s. LaFace helped launch the careers of the biggest selling girl group in music history TLC, as well as--OutKast, Usher, Toni Braxton, & Ciara. As a solo artist Babyface has sold nearly 10 million albums & as a songwriter/producer nearly 100 million albums worldwide. Not only does he have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Edmond’s has won 11 Grammys, & was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2017.
