Dressing Dragonfly, Part One, Kinoralise Agronvera
Hey guys! If you don't know, I am writing a book called 'Dragonfly'! So here's the process I took designing one of the characters, Kinoralise Agronvera!
First, I thought of the types of character tropes there are, and I wanted to design a character that was different from the family they came from, in this case, Kinor's family is a megalomaniac family, seeking out power over other entities.
Then, I thought of a name. The base I had was the last name 'Agronvera', and I had already decided the rules of naming in his family, the name has to begin with Kiokente if male, C or K if female. I thought of the names Kim and Kinor.
Kinor seemed like a better fit. I added 'alise' to the end, because this family is notorious for long names.
Then it was time to design a character concept.
First Beta: Kiokente's......Son?
I hadn't at this point designed Kinor's father, Kirose, so I thought that Kiokente would be suited to be Kinor's father. This, however would be changed when Kirose was designed.
I scrapped the idea that Kinor was different, so, with his 'father' being Kiokente, I replicated his personality onto Kinor's.
This was the result:
Yeah.
Not the worst, but I didn't like how he was an exact copy of the villain, when he was supposed to be on the heroes side.
So I scrapped that idea.
After I designed Kirose (and made it canon that he was dead-) this was the result.
Second Beta: Dead Kinor?
Yeah. What was I thinking.
This was before I designed Clara Jackarando, the ghost character, I wanted a dead character to still interact with the main cast, so I killed Kinor, and this was the result.
I wanted to make a more cutesy, bubbly ghost, so second beta Kinor was scrapped.
Third Beta: I give the fuck up, oh and Kinor's a girl.
I was frustrated with how Kinor was going, so I backtracked and went upon the name 'Kim'. Of course, this would result in a female character.
And I loved the colors, but I still wanted a male character. So I was on a crossroads.
Choose the female, or the male?
If I choose male, then the Kim concept wouldn't be canon.
If I choose female, then it'll mess up the storyline so far, because Kim's part was....well.......(spoilers).
Then I had the idea.
I was actually basing Kinor's personality on my friend, @olidoor-was-here, and it hit me.
The person I'm basing him off is TRANS.
They transitioned to MALE.
It hit me.
Kinor could be trans, and Kim was his original gender, and Kinor is when he transitioned.
I then set to designing what would soon be the final design.
Final Design:
This was the design I settled on. Because his design for his story, and his color pallet was satisfying, well, to me at least.
I hope you enjoyed this, and tell me if you like it, and want more!
Go give some love to @olidoor-was-here, Kinor's voice actor and the person he was based off of!
See ya!
