My boss at the sewing store is finally considering getting interchangable knitting needles for the store and he wants my opinion.
We're not a yarn store; we just have a little yarn section at the back, so we don't have room for more than one collection, and it has to be something he can get from his current supplier. I think it should be something that isn't available from our competitors here in Montreal. KnitPro* meets these requirements while being compatible with Knit Picks and Lykke needles.
My favourite are the KnitPro Basix: The tip is neither too pointy nor too blunt, and the pale colour makes it easy to see my yarn.
The Smartstix have a sound/feel that I can't tolerate, but I do think it's cool that they're colour coded and that they double as a ruler:
I don't like the Dreamz because I need the colour of my needle to contrast with the colour of my yarn, and they're very easy to find online. But they are pretty and the sizes are colour coded, which makes it easy to find the size you want:
Which do you think would be the most popular? Our customers are mostly old ladies who are kind of set in their ways or young people who are just trying knitting for the first time (like I said, we don't have a very large yarn selection, and our current needles are blunt aluminum Unique crap). Is there another KnitPro collection you think people would like better? (The yarn stores in the neighbourhood carry KnitPro Mindful and Lykke, along with serious knitter brands like ChiaoGoo and HiyaHiya, while the Fabricville carries Knit Picks Rainbow and Nickel Plated.)
