NOTES : I myself had social anxiety so I tried to write this with my own experiences, if you think it doesn't correspond to social anxiety then I'm sorry it's surely because everyone has a different experience and lives it differently from everyone else! I write this with all respect of course and don’t forget that it always gets better in the end, never be ashamed of yourself or of needing help sometimes. (Sorry if this headcanons is bad, I’m not really proud of it I think I need to improve my writing)
Btw should I start writing for Sai NANAMI & Tsukasa SHISHIO ? I love those two characters and I usually write fast like 3/4 days but with those two more characters it will maybe take 1/2 days more, I would love your opinion ( •̀⤙•́ )
⿻ GEN ASAGIRI
The main workshop of Senku and Chrome was buzzing (or exploding) with newexperiment. Tools clattered around while Ryusui’s wild laughter echoed, and people swapped stories about the latest revival fluid success. You’d wanted to be part of it but the noise layered up quickly.. the voices overlapping with sometimes someone dropping a metal rod with a bang or a notebook on the floor.
Your chest tightened like a vice and you felt it that you needed to leave now. So you slipped away to a corner behind some supply, sliding down on the floor while trying desperately to calm the rising panic: It's nothing..I put myself aside for nothing, I could have participated in those story everyone shared so why didn't I go??
And of course Gen noticed your absence almost almost immediately, it’s his mentalist instincts he would say. He made his way over you.
“Well, well~ What do we have here? My favorite anxious assistant having a dramatic meltdown behind the tent! The big bad workshop noises got to you, huh? Should I call for a dramatic rescue?”
His teasing supposed was light at first, meant to test the waters with humor seeing if your panick was real or could be easily calm down. But when he crouched and saw the real distress in your eyes, the way you were struggling to even speak, he dropped the act instantly.
“Okay, okay, bad timing on the jokes. Come here, you.”
He pulled a large and colorful piece of fabric from seemingly nowhere (maybe one of his many mentalist tricks) and draped it over both of you like a blanket. He created a small and silly private world that blocked out the workshop chaos.
“See? Now it’s just the Great Mentalist Gen and his favorite person. The outside world can wait.”
His voice suddenly turned gentle from a few minutes ago. He sat cross-legged across from you, knees touching yours for grounding
“I know crowds drain you. Parties, big celebrations, even the ship’s lively nights—you pull away every time, and that’s alright. You don’t have to force yourself to it.”
And he spent the next hours at cracking softer jokes just for you such has silly impressions of Senku’s “science this, science that” rants, or poking fun at his own over-the-top personality. Then he suddenly opened up…
“Even I get overwhelmed sometimes pretending to be everyone’s favorite clown. But with you? I can drop the mask… so do the same around me..”
Gradually, your breathing evened out and you started smiling with Gen staying under the tent until you were ready, after all you guys had all the time you wanted because he casually announced to the group that you two were “on a top-secret mentalist mission” before he came to your rescue, so no one would press.
He always knew when to tease and when to comfort, and you never felt babied, just deeply understood.
⿻ ULYO SAIONJI
The expedition had been going well, at first…But everytime that evenings around a campfire arrived, it was always stressful..Even with just ten or less people from the Kingdom of Science that simply gathered.
That night Senku was explaining some new invention with Chrome excitedly interrupting, and a few others laughing at Senku face after chrome interrptued him.
The overlapping voices and crackling fire created a wall of sound that pressed in on you. Because even in this relatively small group, the social pressure lingered. Your mind kept scanning for judgment or for the “wrong” thing to say, eyes turning toward you if you stayed too quiet or spoke up. And suddenly your heart started hammering, the cup in your hands trembled, and you felt that familiar spiral: they are too loud, too many people around… I can’t leave now or they will see me…damn it, I can’t breathe properly. It will be embarrassing if they see me like this…
Ukyo’s sharp hearing caught it instantly—the slight hitch in your breathing, the way your pulse quickened. He didn’t make a scene because he knew it wouldn’t have helped. Instead, he stood gracefully, bow slung over his shoulder as if it were casual.
“I’ll do a quick perimeter check,”
While announcing this to the rest of the group his eyes was meeting yours, and with the smallest tilt of his head you understood he was inviting you along.
You followed him away from the firelight into the darker, quieter woods. The trees filtered everything while the voices that surrounded you suddenly became distant murmurs.
Rustling leaves and gentle night insects was now the only thing you could hear. After a few minutes of walk Ukyo found a soft patch of moss at the base of an old tree and sat down, patting the spot beside him.
“I heard it, your breathing changed. Heart rate too. You don’t have to explain if you don’t want to.”
He kept his voice low has if he was scared to be too loud. One arm came around your shoulders, warm and secure.
“Just breathe with me for a bit...”
You leaned into him, focusing on the rise and fall of his chest. Minutes passed in comfortable silence broken only by the forest. It's comforting... to switch to a huge noise to a calm noise of nature, filled with cricket noise and just the soft breath of Ukyo.
”Are large groups are tough for you? I’ve noticed it before, at the village gatherings or on the ship deck when everyone’s celebrating. It’s okay. The world doesn’t need you smiling through it every time.”
He stayed with you long after you calmed, sharing quiet stories about how he used to find peace in listening to the ocean’s subtle sounds instead of crowds because he too with his incredible earring could make everything or everyone around him too suffocating. He could understand you better than anyone.
”If it ever gets bad again, just look at me. I’ll always hear you first. I don’t mind being the one that ask to leave first..”
”Thanks Ukyo…it means a lot too me”
And by the time you both returned the group had quieted down naturally. And when you sit next to Ukyo, you told yourself you were thankful that he never made you feel like a burden because of your anxiety..
⿻ RYUSUI NANAMI
The Perseus was glowing with lanterns and excitement from everyone. Ryusui had been talking about the casino after losing to Senku earlier. Cards, dice, betting on ridiculous moves, simply the thrill of victory.
And honestly it worked, the deck was packed with laughter, Chrome yelling excitedly then crying minutes after because he lost all of his dragos, and others joining in. Ryusui was in his element, eyes sparkling as he prepared to declare the “greatest gamble of the century.”
Then he saw you lingering near the edge, away from the lights, arms wrapped tightly around yourself. It looked like your mind wouldn’t shut off, you were expecting conflict or anything bad that could happen leaving you on edge. Your face was pale, eyes flicking nervously across the growing crowd. The noise, the people, the energy—it was all too much, and you were already starting to spiral: Okay... it's okay I just need to breathe…, at worst I'll just go to François's bar? Wait no, what if someone is too drunk and decided to take a fight with me.. maybe If I manage to not interact with anyone it should be fine...
But Ryusui didn’t hesitate.
“Hold it right there, everyone! Casino can survive without its greatest captain for one night. There are more important treasures aboard this ship.”
And at first you didn’t understand why he shouted that before he held your firmly while steering you away from the festivities toward a quieter upper deck where the ocean waves provided a soothing rhythm instead of voices.
He settled beside you against the railing, the starry sky vast overhead.
”Ryusui…you shouldn’t be here, the casino is waiting for you, you kept talking about it to me for day!!”
“I was looking forward to it,”
Well atleast he was admitting honestly…making your head fall down.
”But not if it means leaving you like this. Your comfort comes first—always.”
He finally finishes his sentence, he then taking your chin in his hand and lifting your face. Because Ryusui might be greedy and loud but his affection for you ran deeper than any thrill.
So He stayed right there, talking in a lower, calmer voice than usual, sharing old stories of his sailing days and how he wished you both would get vacations after all this shit.
The vastness of the sea made even big crowds feel small by comparison. Maybe that why you liked it so much.
“We can go somewhere even quieter if you want. My cabin? Just the two of us. Or we can stay here and watch the waves until your heart slows down.”
Hours passed comfortably. The casino noise faded into the background and Ryusui never once complained or rushed. He told himself that is excitement could wait—your peace was the greatest treasure.
⿻ KOHAKU
The training grounds had turned lively after a big group celebration nearby spilled over. Warriors and villagers mingled with voices louder then sharing stories and giving friendly challenges.
And honestly you did tried to stick it out for Kohaku’s sake, but the press of people and constant movement overwhelmed you fast. The celebration was meant to be relieving, but for so why did you act like that?? Even outside of immediate danger it seemed like your mind stayed hyper-alert, scanning for social missteps or hidden threats. The constant “what if they notice I’m off” didn’t helped. So you retreated to the far edge of the clearing, sitting on a fallen log as your breathing turned shallow and your hands wouldn’t stop shaking: If the Warriors ever saw me like that they would surely laugh at me…I panic for so little, come on you are a fighter so recover fast..
Meanwhile Kohaku found you within minutes, probably her sharp instincts guiding her. She didn’t fully understand why big groups triggered this for you because she was comfortable in crowds, thriving on energy and action but right now that didn’t matter. She simply sat down beside you, close enough that her shoulder brushed yours.
“You’re doing that thing again…The shaking and the quiet breathing. I don’t get what exactly sets it off every time… too many people? The noise?”
”….”
”I mean… I don’t need to understand it all, but know that I’m always there.”
And Without asking she wrapped a strong arm around you and pulled you against her side, her warmth and steady heartbeat grounding you. She stayed like that, solid as a shield.
“You don’t have to go back. I can tell them to quiet down or we can leave entirely. I’ll fight off anyone who tries to drag you into it.”
That make you laugh, imagining Kohaku fighting for people to be silent. And when you started to calm down she offered comforts to you, getting up to get water rrop a nearby river, suggesting light sparring just the two of you to burn off the anxious energy or just sitting in silence watching the sunset paint the sky.
“We can train together tomorrow, just us, or explore the quieter parts of the island?? Wait maybe you want us to stay there instead..Whatever helps.”
She might not understand it at all because her energy never drain around people but she always try her best to be around you even calmly. She might tease you lightly later about being tho, but never in a way that dismissed your feelings.
Kohaku ls always there and is always reliable, protective, and ready to stand by your side no matter what and those moments showed how she would always take her time with you even if she doesn’t understand it.
