Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, whose formal title is “papal almoner,” or distributor of alms, said the sex workers most likely were undocumented, making it difficult for them to seek help from Italian state welfare offices.

“Everything is closed. They don’t have any resources. They went to the pastor. They could not have gone to a politician or a parliamentarian. And the pastor came to us.

“They are really in difficulty because sometimes their passports were taken away by the mafia pimps who control them,” he said. “We follow the gospel.” 

Krajewski, at 56, one of the youngest cardinals in the world, said it was what Jesus would have done. And it was not the first time the Polish cardinal has made the news with his sometimes unorthodox ways of distributing the pope’s charities. Last year, he clambered down a manhole, broke a police seal, and re-connected electrical circuit breakers to restore electricity to hundreds of homeless people, many of them immigrants, living in an occupied building in Rome.

Although Krajewski ran afoul of then-Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and his anti-immigrant policies, an Italian newspaper dubbed him “The Pope’s Robin Hood.“

Life consists of small gestures that seem trivial but restore dignity and hope. Mother Teresa used to say that every drop of water is important, because the sea is made of drops. We don’t have to look for great works right away — we should start with small ones. From these small ones, great works will be accomplished.

Quando le proprietà sono sue, la Chiesa sfratta senza scrupoli

Non si placano per polemiche per il gesto del cardinale Konrad Krajewski, che ha aiutato gli abusivi che occupano uno stabile a Roma.

Intendiamoci, in Italia ci sono problemi ancora più seri: manca il lavoro, la gente fa fatica ad arrivare a fine mese, la violenza che sta (de)generando in questi giorni è forse giusta per uno Stato del terzo mondo. 

Ma se, accanto a questo, mettiamo che anche la Chiesa si è messa a fare politica, la situazione diventa veramente grave.

Questo articolo forse è fazioso: tanti giornalisti lo sono e tanta gente incolpa la stampa di non essere più obiettiva, Ma questo articolo non è altro che un “fare il punto della situazione” di quello che è la solidarietà e l’aiuto del Vaticano ai poveracci.

Qualcuno direbbe che fanno i finocchi i con il culo degli altri.
