I'm surprised you thought the end was underwhelming. I thought episode 12 was one of the best directed episodes of the season. And Nise was pretty good. They added a whole lot of fanservice, but the interactions between characters are glorious. Also, you get the toothbrush scene in Nise. Enjoy.
I probably need to watch the last two episodes again. I tend to marathon series and Bakemonogatari is one of my first that I took in different days due to life obligations, plus the amount of stuff you have to take in.
Not sure I’m in need of fanservice but we’ll see how bad it gets. I’m aware of the toothbrush and was sort of it in awe of how well they did that scene, it’ll make an appearance here at some point.
Will enjoy, at least when I have time.
