Hopefully will get round to recording a little video this week chatting more about these vintage corsets, their history and social context vs womens role in WW2. (I briefly mentioned the one on the left in an IG video post and the history snippets were well received so hope to expand on this further 😍) Early C1940s (CC41 utility corsets) and C1952 post war girdle (top right) from my personal collection of vintage corsets @laced_unlaced •The UTILITY scheme was introduced in C1941 in response to the shortage of raw materials and labour for the War effort. Regulations were put in place restricting the amount of cloth, type of decoration and time taken to manufacture. •Utility clothing was marked with the CC41 'controlled commodity' mark. C1883 C.W HIGBY PATENT CHALLENGE With @laced_unlaced Constructed in blues and purple silk, I really wanted to play with colour blocking to show off the unusual panel shaping for this diagonally seamed corset.
