I'd picture it like this tho: Jed isn't super lovey-dovey like Octavius is. When Octavius sees Larry, he gets super excited and he just swoons over Larry all the time. Jed's more laid back and when he's not with Lance, he doesn't really speak about the other man. When Lance comes to get him, he doesn't run to the edge of the diorama like Octavius does. His relationship with Lance is somewhere between a bromance and a romance and he's too proud to admit his love 99% of the time. He occasionally uses cowboy-themed pickup lines, but Lance never gets them so it doesn't work. Octavius says 'I love you' every five minuets and showers Larry with kisses.
