so... is anybody online who wants to play a game of “kick aim until she types up her fucking writing already”?
Top 5 non-otp things you flail about?
I’m assuming this is about tv shows? Okay, in no particular order;
1. Characters who have dealt with self loathing for so long and then they have a moment where you can see them taking a big step in overcoming it
2. Discovering a song through a tv show and then thinking about that every time I listen to it
3. Tight hugs, those hugs where you don’t think they’ll ever let go (this can be romantic but it can also be platonic or familial)
4. Really pretty cinematography
5. My favorite characters smiling <33
(Ask me my “TOP 5” anything!)

I found glitter pens while packing. Would you like to use those to write? It would definitely be unique ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Decided to not read it. a) ethical reasons b)classmate who bought it says it's a bad first draft of Mockingbird. What would you like to vent about?
It’s not so much ranting as it is playing pick-up sticks with my thoughts. Mind if I ask what ethical reasons? I haven’t been following the media surrounding the book because I wanted to read it fresh. [Spoilers following, kinda. Not much actually happens in the book.]
Honestly, I know it’s the book she originally submitted to the publisher before completely rewriting to end up with Mockingbird, but it does work as a sequel of sorts. I thought it was interesting, because since Scout is a child in Mockingbird, her narration is extremely biased and even simplified.Then with Watchman from an adult Scout’s perspective, Atticus is revealed to be imperfect and yes, racist.
I can see how some people might read it as: Atticus was established as this perfect American in Mockingbird, now we find out he’s racist, thus she’s saying the perfect American should be racist. But I think it’s the opposite-- our favorites are imperfect. Our parents are imperfect. There is no one person who can guide you to the moral truth and live it him- or herself, and trying to find that person and being mad when they don’t live up is hypocritical, because you should be thinking about these things for yourself. Things have to change to get better, but we can’t just run away and try to start fresh somewhere else; there’s no blank slate waiting for us somewhere. Our heritage is where we start, and then we have to try to pass on something different if we want to change.
I don’t know. There’s a lot there, and I do better after the second time I’ve read something.
