Friendly reminder that say “latina women/latino men” is redundant because latina and latino already refer to men and women of latin ethnicity. It’s like saying “latin women women/latin men men” every single time.
A gringo: We are the best country of all! So much better than any other! The greatest of all! No wonder everyone is dying to get here! A simple latino: I don’t. I prefer to live on my latin country than US. We have problems, we are not an utopia, but I still like it. A gringo: WHY DO YOU HATE THE US SO MUCH??? DIDN’T YOU REALIZED WE ARE SO ADVANCED AND BETTER AND JUST THE BESTEST EVER? HOW DARE YOU TO SUGGEST WE ARE NOT THE ONLY PLACE WORTH LIVING IN? A simple latino: Nah. I like my place better. I am good. A gringo *incoherent angry noises*
There should be a name for when english speaking people take a spanish word and just randomly put it on their vernacular, creating even their own version of such words that have nothing to do with the original one. In Latin America (not aware if they use it on Spain or not) we have spanglish to call when a hispanic speaking person throws english words just because. Instead of saying “oh dios mío” my nanny used to say “oh my god”, for example. And then you have the opposite happening, like when americans say things like “no problemo” (which doesn’t mean anything on spanish, the correct way would be “no hay problema”) or wanna say “papacito”, but there is no actual words for when that happens? Idk, I just think that is weird.
Venezuelans are so fucking LGBTphobic I hate them
Some fool: Well, according to the RSA-
Me, not a fool: mamame el webo, mamawebo
Alright so. My mom. She's Peruvian, like the rest of my family except for my sis and I. We were talking about how cuchara (spoon) here means pussy for some fucking reason. And then I continued with how confusing shit is cuz E.g in Chile arrecho apparently means horny, meanwhile here it means...a variety of things. And horny here is quesuo. When I told her this she was like "Oh my god that explains so much" and I asked her what did she mean. And apparently she said she was quesuda (but like, meaning she's sweating a lot) in front of her office and I'm,,,,,,why didn't anybody explain that to her?! Another similar thing happened with cachapera which is a way to refer to lesbians but she thought it meant someone who rlly liked cachapas. Anyways. You never really learn Spanish. (God knows how much I struggle to talk to Argentinians from the capital even though is the same fucking language)
It's been 12 years but Ni Una Sola Palabra by Paulina Rubio still slaps
