Happy Birthday, Lawrence Arthur O’Sullivan!
"You know how they say your mind can't create new faces?" he asked, not taking his eyes off of the bright, flickering screen. "--How every face you've seen in a dream... your eyes picked up somewhere? Your head's just recycling faces over and fuckin' over..."
He drank from his glass and bared his teeth at the bite of the liquor.
"That's why I want to see them." He nodded slowly at the television set. "I want to see the faces behind the lives we're ruining. I want to see them and I want them to print themselves somewhere in my limbic system..."
He kept his eyes straight, pointing two shaking fingers to the side of his head, tapping it twice.
"I want to recycle all those fucking faces. I want them to show up in my dreams and I want them to slit my fucking throat. You know why, Jeff?"
He scoffed. "'Cause even in my fucking dreams I can't end it. I blow my brains out; my skull glues itself back together. I slit my fucking wrist? Scar tissue-- right where the blade drags. It's fucking hilarious!"
He laughed, his brow tightening.
"But they can..." he told him, stretching his hand out towards the faces on the screen. The liberating, vengeful faces.
"They always can... It's never pretty, but they can."
He sat back, holding his glass to his chest and finally letting his head fall back on the back of the seat, looking back at where his coworker still stood, quiet.
"So yeah," he chuckled, "I enjoy watching the fucking news channel, Jeffrey. I do. Fuck off."
"My sister, Emmeline, she used to hide us both away in the attic when our father was beating on our mother or our brothers were-- looking for something to beat on. We'd hide underneath a blanket, to muffle the noise and I'd create-- pictures, stories with my hands for her.
She used to say "Me; I'm stuck here, but you are gonna create something. Something so magical, so beautiful that the whole world's gonna notice. Gonna want it.""
He cleared his throat.
"And I did. I did."
“If I could, then I would I'll go wherever you will go”
Characters (Lawrence O’Sullivan, Marie O’Sullivan, Emma O’Sullivan) and art both belong to me. This was a practice of background and prop-drawing... but I am so proud of it!

This was practice of a few different things, but I am so proud of it! It took me forever to decide that I couldn't work on it any longer and it was time to post.
Characters (Lawrence O'Sullivan, Marie O'Sullivan) and art all belong to me.

Some appreciation for the song "Jack" is singing when he's first introduced.
@dramionefan66 said she wanted to read the rest of the snippet I shared-- so naturally I spent a day and a half finishing up and editing the rest of the chapter. I put it in a link because of the length.)

Okay but imagine Lawrence and Emma.
