Emma almost choked on her champagne. Truth be told, she’d been eyeing the bloke from across the party all night. He was the only man in the room who wasn’t old enough to be her father, and bloody hell did he look good in a suit.
Still—she couldn’t be won over that easily. “S’at ever actually worked?” It was a genuine question, not a hint of sarcasm or derision. She plucked the pen sticking out of his lapel pocket and jotted something down on a cocktail napkin before sliding it closer to him…

She’d caught his eye almost immediately, though calculated as always Bond had waited until he’d clocked her looking his way a few times before approaching her at the bar.
“No idea, I’m not usually the pickup line sort.” And for good reason; he found his usual methods were far more reliable. His smile was as charming as ever as he watched her take the pen from his pocket. Bold, he liked that.
The writing on the napkin actually made him chuckle. It was always far more fun when he found a woman who didn’t immediately fall at his feet. “Emma,” he started, leaving the napkin where it was for the time being, “how about I get you a drink?”
