Lol Lilith says the things written about her we lies by men who were trying to subjugate women. Lilith’s refusal to submit to the will of men made her a target by those patriarchal bastards. She’s not evil she’s just not controllable. Which is why men had to make her out to be a demon.
I've talked about why this take is one step below glittery nazi propaganda before, but this is a good opportunity to give it its own post.
First of all, Lilith is a mythological figure, not a physical human being. She was actually regarded as a demon in the Talmud for about 200-500 years before the story of her refusal was written. That story is from a work of satire and is one of many explanations/stories about Lilith. No mention of Lilith as a singular figure existed anywhere in the world before the Babylonian Talmud (~500AD,) so the idea she was some well-regarded goddesslike figure before some smear campaign is just utterly ahistorical and ridiculous. Additionally, let's be real: when you say men we know you mean (((men,))) because we're specifically talking about how a Jewish figure is treated in a Jewish context. The idea of this Egalitarian Feminist Wonderland before "Abrahamic" religions fucked it up is, you guessed it, deeply antisemitic. Sexism has been around forever, we didn't invent it. Much less did Jews (who to my knowledge have never been more than 0.2% of the population at best) manage to pull off this grand scheme using propaganda to fool the whole world into hating a once-beloved figure then destroying all evidence of her. Jewish conspiracy theories have pinned us for inventing every world problem from capitalism to racism, but for some reason with sexism even leftist-leaning folks eat it up.
This isn't unique to Lilith, either. You know Joy of Satan (that pseudo-satanist website everyone knows is nazi propaganda?) Their whole pitch is "Here's who Satan was before (((they))) ruined it for us." They use it because it works. All those nazi Heathens? "This is what a Good White Religion was before (((they))) ruined it for us." Are you seeing the pattern here?
There is absolutely room to discuss academically how gender roles influenced folklore around Lilith in Jewish communities, but this ain't it. This right here is ahistorical, bubblegum new age antisemitic propaganda. Come off anon and I can recommend some further reading.
