“The saw is family!”
The slasher sub-genre has so much potential for emotion and depth, but we seldom get any because most slasher fans bitch and moan when it does happen because all they want is gore and jumpscares.
And I am talking about the slashers, too, not just the victims and protagonists!
Chucky's obvious trauma from losing his parents at a very young age and then being groomed by his therapist? The show kept setting things up, but then it ultimately went nowhere — WASTED!
The Bailkirsch family's pain from losing Richie and seeing his death photos? It was turned into one-liner joke fodder — WASTED!
The Sawyer family, Good Lord. SO much potential — WASTED!
Why did I see, years ago, some YouTubers I used to watch complaining that Michael Myers' scenes with Jamie Lloyd "humanized him"?
GIVE ME DEPTH IN MY SLASHER GENRE!! ✊🏽😤
