Being a self taught artisan I rely on the knowledge of others willing to share, reading in antique books or studying vintage leathergoods. Why vintage/antique? Because in former times the leatherworkers worked mainly with their hands and not operating machines with them. This approach reflects in the way things were made and designed. So this rare swiss (army) toolbag is a true masterpiece for me. It survived centuries of use without any harm. Just to pick one interesting detail of it, see the "cuts", they are hidden seams. An english saddlemaker showed me this technique some years ago, it is done on areas which are really exposed to damage. By cutting into the leather in a 45 degee angle at about half the tickness of this leather the thread is totally hidden and protected. This bag will be cleaned, conditioned and the used as my "mobile leather workshop". http://www.alexandervonbronewski.de #vintageleatherbag #werkzeugtasche #leathertoolbag #leathermasterpiece (hier: Alexander von Bronewski Manufaktur)
