It wasn’t the heat that Pierre struggled with. Sure, it was a bit overwhelming at times but he would deal with it unlike the damn humidity he was swimming in. With each brush of the broom in the Minrathous market, he thanked his own foresight for not painting a casteless tattoo on his cheek.
With a bark of something Tevene, his current employer gestured towards the various bits and baubles at his stall and threw polishing rag towards him. The Inquisitor’s cotton shawl nearly blew back as an unexpected ocean breeze swept the rag down into the dirt, earning him a few insults in Tevene. Pierre was fortunate to find a decent job while posing as a poor dwarf. Omardi, despite being slightly demanding and crude, wasn’t a complete ass of an employer.
A few minutes into polishing a bronze cup, he felt a light slap against his shoulder and the hushed words, ‘magister’ and ‘legion’, hissed into his ear. Under the hem of his hood, Pierre glanced towards the magister’s direction and smiled with only a slight flash of teeth.
“Avanna, Lord Anguis.” The smile in his voice never once left as he plopped down from his stool with dusty sandals.
