Early development Clementine Art that we're not going to use :)
The next post in my #thewomxnwhoinspireme series is Leigh Luna. Here is why she inspires me:
Leigh is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I have ever met. She is fun and effortlessly cool, and so easy to have meaningful conversations with. I love nothing more than grabbing a coffee or brunch with Leigh, and simply shooting the shit. I can always be silly around Leigh, and never feel judged. These are such admirable traits in a friend, and so I feel lucky to call her my friend.
Leigh is an incredible comic artist and illustrator. She continues to blow me away with her truly amazing work and unique artistic perspective, ever since she attended MCAD’s pre-college summer program. To give you an idea of how immensely talented and industrious Leigh is, she was picked up by Andrews McMeel as a sophomore in college and has worked as a syndicated cartoonist for them ever since on her book Clementine Fox. She is the colorist on the Steven Universe comic for Boom and works on various projects for them. She is a regular contributor to Rookie Magazine, and is currently represented by Linnan Literacy. Other cool clients include 3M, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, BuzzFeed, Cicada Magazine, Wildflower + Co, Vestiges, Pollen Midwest & Paper Darts Magazine.
Also super duper exciting, Leigh recently created a sick rainbow bicycle enamel pin to benefit the Aids Life Cycle, and is donating 50% of the profits from the sales to area LA and SF LGBT centers. Be sure to preorder one before they’re gone!
Along with this post, I will be donating money to amfAR The Foundation for AIDS Research. Since 1985, amfAR has played a catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs. Through its $100 million Countdown to a Cure for AIDS initiative, amfAR aims to develop the scientific basis for a cure by 2020. Please consider joining me in the fight to end aids, and stay tuned for my next installment!
