“no, come on — it definitely goes here,” king said, holding up the two puzzle pieces and looking at them closely. they’d been at it for a straight week already, and they were barely closer to finishing than they had been when they opened the box. sure, classes and homework made it harder to dedicate time to puzzles, but they were both decently intelligent — okay, leo was, but he should be able to figure out if two pieces went together, theoretically. “okay, maybe — god, why is there so much greenery? who picked this damn puzzle?” it was him, he knew it was his fault that they were working on that specific god-forsaken puzzle, but he needed to express his frustration somehow. “i don’t know why i agreed to this; i’m definitely going to be a bingo senior, not a puzzle senior.” | @leoalcrights
“what’s up, you sexy bitch?!” she called out over the noise, shimmying her shoulders in leo’s direction. “god damn, you’re looking hot tonight! you’re like a sexy hummingbird or some shit — i can’t really remember a lot of types of birds right now.” she placed her empty glass on a random table, then wrapped her arms tightly around her friend’s waist. “i haven’t seen you, like, all summer? what the fuck? do you know how long that is in parker days? like, a lot. i need my leo time or i shrivel up like an under-watered house plant.” | @leoalcrights
“Mrs. Sokolov, can you please hurry up? The fact that you’re taking longer than me is really fucking worrying.” Anita’s eyes narrowed as she continued to look at her reflection in the bathroom mirror, foot tapping impatiently. She had dragged her friend to go to the bathroom with her and touch up, her Lady Macbeth get up was beautiful but (like all beautiful things), extremely high maintenance. Her hands smoothed over the black velvet of her gown, twirling by herself to watch in awe as the fabric fanned out around her. Anita felt good for the first time in a while. Happy, even. Deep in her bones, she was hoping that, for once, she could be able to enjoy an event at Yates and come out unscathed. The theme this entire year had been a dreary one: drugs, blackouts, fights, meltdowns, vomiting. There was nothing she wanted more than to be able to sit in her own joy for a while, let it envelop her like a warm hug. She didn’t care if it made her boring or strayed from her usual self. This was a Hastings event, after all, and she wanted everything to run as smoothly and beautifully as they had planned. The masquerade was also going to be a bigger celebration for her, a tangible way to celebrate Florian being out of rehab. It was noticeably difficult for her to contain her excitement. “Are you in there sexting Romeo or something?” Her eyes narrowed at the reflection of the stall behind her, occupied by Leo. “Come on. I promise his skinny pink dick will still be there, digitally haunting you, for the rest of your life. Pinky promise.” @leoalcrights
Running wasn't her favorite activity, but Anita was trying to develop 'healthier habits'. Whatever that meant. Her high pony tail swung violently behind her, whipping her neck as she slowed down to a jog. Her breathing was heavy, and despite only sporting biker shorts and a sports bra in the chilly Vermont weather, she had managed to sweat a good amount. She had made it all the way off campus to Main Street before doubling back, and was now approaching Beckett Lake. From the distance, she could see a figure by the lake. At first, she considered turning away and going back to Hastings house. But as she got closer, she recognized Leo's silhouette. Wiping sweat from her brow, Anita slowed down to a walk. Once within hearing distance from her friend, she pulled out her airpods, stuffed them in the case enclosed in her pocket. "Having a romantic Beckett Lake date by yourself?" She quipped, crouching down by the other young woman. @leoalcrights
“So, like, do you want to be featured on the Incest Sister Rage mixtape? Because I feel like,” Anita twirled around in Leo’s desk chair, her legs extended out in front her like she was on a carnival ride. She planted her feet flat on the floor and halted her spinning suddenly, facing the other girl. “Your vocals would add so much dimension. A real heartbreak factor. Adele type of shit. ‘Leo’s Room’ would be absolutely devastating. It would make me cry.” Leaning back in the chair, she inspected Leo’s face for a reaction, braced for an icy retort, or perhaps a random object thrown in her general direction. “Seriously though, are you guys a thing or? You gotta give me some drama to live vicariously through.” Her best pout on, she contorted her face to demonstrate her sadness, resembling this cat. “C’mon, the love of my life got his phone taken away from him in rehab. I’m basically dying. My life has become a really bad E! reality show.” @leoalcrights
