I’ve only read the first book not seen the show, but I do love how Miller is just batshit fucking insane, hes hallucinating the whole time, and while he’s a good detective the moments where’s most correct are often when he’s deepest in his delusions. I was able to 100% buy that his weird parasocial crush was able to save humanity

I didn't realize how much of an idiot Holden is on my first read through.

Doesn't know what big words mean.

Doesn't recognize a transponder box.

Taunts a ship that just nuked his friends.

The part where he tells the whole solar system that Mars nuked the Canterbury is just sort of on brand by that point.

Reading a book & opening ao3 only for it to become very clear that there is also a tv show and that the tv show does not communicate the same themes you want to see explored in fanfiction

It pains me to say but I think I like the show version of the Expanse more because at least I don't have to be subjected to how these men think about women 24/7
