The table in the dinning room holds work that has gone through a bisque fire and will function as a space for me to apply wax resist to pieces. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Sometimes I clean up before I work and other times I scoot things out of the way to work.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ I would say there is a balance of mess and tidy-mess in my making madness 😄. If I’m not posting products or studio shots then you get to see adorable dogs and a horse ♥️⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane and share some (key word being some 😆) of my past employment experiences. All of which ⁣⁣ play a role for me being where I am today. Maybe you share a similar experience? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Future Fitness Gym: This was my first job in high school (16? Whenever I had my driver’s license) I didn’t mind cleaning the machines but dealing with paperwork/contracts to fill out for memberships made me nervous 😬 ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🍕 Round Table Pizza: Second job. I kicked butt making King Arthur’s Combo. I had so much fun taking the pizzas out to cut them up with the special cutting blade. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Mangrove vet (kennel assistant): Great time working with animals but it was weekend only and split shift. I was having a hard time that summer (first summer after college) and asked my mom if I could move back. She told me to not give up, I’m glad I didn’t because I took beginning ceramics that fall. I met more people that fall and created new friendships.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Easter Bunny: I got to cruise the mall in the bunny suit, sit in a chair and take pictures with family/kids. I passed the drug test and got paid more. I was told they were having a hard time finding applicants to pass the test. My mom came to take a picture with me as the bunny.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Lulus.com: Longest employment experience and met so many wonderful people. ⁣ ✨Branding✨⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #marchmeetthemaker ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🙈This is still something I am working through and figuring out as I navigate this journey ♥️⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My business card image was one of my prouder moments but I also went with Moo business cards a few times and loved how I could have different images on each business card. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I took pictures of my work and created hang tags to add to items last year: to explain using a garlic grater, introducing a butter dish, a message with your mug, or simply my name and website. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When I first considered the business I struggled figuring out a studio/brand name. I considered the street I live on (but what if I move?) I thought about it, and thought some more, and realized I was happy using my name. I use the stamps CFA on my pottery for my initials. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The majority of my work has one, maybe two glazes. I also have the leaky pen look (splatter color over glaze) and I love using different clays because each one reacts different with the glaze I have. I want my work to be realistic in function.
