Concept: An AU where your heart literally lights up when you fall in love and changes colour in accordance with the type of love you feel for that person.

I give you Bucky, pre FATWS who is sitting alone in his apartment, wallowing in self pity trying to figure out how the fuck he's supposed to put his life back together now that he's been pardoned and given a place to live away from Wakanda, when he gets a text from Sam.

He's not willing to answer it, but can see from under his shirt a deep red light begins to glow. He pulls his shirt up and realises that his heart is actually glowing pink, a soulmates love.

So he doesn't answer the message, he doesn't answer any of the messages. And when he realises he needs to go see Sam after the Shield incident he wears multiple shirts and a jacket to boot because what the fuck is up with his glowing fucking heart.

Little does he know that when Sam changes out of his gear in the deck of the plane whilst Bucky sits in the cargo hold his heart lights up too, and it's so bright he can actually feel the warmth when he pulls his shirt off.
