Hm, I'm not really familiar with the media Newt is connected to. What are the most important points to know before writing with him?

Dr Newton “Newt” Geiszler comes from the Pacific Rim films! The world in these movies…

has occasionally been attacked by giant reptilian-esque aliens called Kaiju

the first attack happened when Newt was 23 & in college, studying microbiology

he was immediately fascinated with Kaiju and changed majors to the newly popularized xenobiology

he protested the Jaeger program and made friends at various massive protests. The Jaeger were created in response to the Kaiju, to protect the Citizens of Earth

He got dozens of tattoos of Kaiju as they became publicly studied and categorized, marking himself as a “Kaiju Groupie” that wants to study instead of eradicate the monsters

10 years later, Newt graduated with his Masters Degree and started contracting for the Jaeger program as their onsite Kaiju Expert

He is a 5’7/short, bespectacled, enthusiastic and loud fellow, always trying to be polite but still getting into heated, frantic debates with his colleagues about what is right or wrong regarding the Kaiju. (He’s a nerd!)

He is mechanically talented and computer-smart, but his main love is xenobiology

I headcanon/write him as bisexual & cisgender!! others’ people’s hc’s are cool too, but those are mine for him

In the Sequel film, Pacific Rim Uprising, they gave Newt a “he is evil now” plotline/character arc.

He ditches his glasses and starts working for a Jaeger Manufactor named Shao Industries.

Newt becomes rich and grows distant from his friends in the Jaeger program, seemingly stressed out of his mind at this company where he is the Head of A Department I Forget the Title Of

10 years pass

It’s revealed, from the events of the 1st movie, Newt has the Hiveminded Kaiju Scientists/Colonists inside his head & they have essentially brainwashed him into betraying his species

Lots of the fandom don’t like many aspects of this movie, especially evil Newt, who sometimes talks about himself like: “He wouldn’t want that! I mean Me. I wouldn’t want that.”

I love evil Newt for the psychology of it all, and that’s rly my main verse for him!! but default Good Movie 1 Newt is also available :) 💖

I just started watching The Mentalist and I thought of you! I can see some connections in Patrick's and Nathan's behavior and I wonder if that's why you write them both? Also if they were to interact together, perhaps Nathan as a suspect, how do you think that would go down?

Aw man, this is so sweet! ♥ I've actually written Patrick much, much longer than Nathan, and before that I wrote Grace! But you're right, now that you mention it, Nathan and Patrick do have some hilarious similarities. Poking the hornet's nest despite not being fighters, then running behind their nearest friend is one big one hahaha!

I don't think I write them for their similarities, though, no. That's just a bonus, or maybe just the continuing trend I have for loving charming mischief-makers who toe the line between being barrels of sunshine and arrogant assholes. What drove me to Patrick was a want to expand on his life pre and post Red John murders because I thought there was a lot to build from there, and Nathan's draw was initially just a desire to write a character further out of my wheelhouse that was just crazy and free. It just so happened that he also had a lot more to unpack than I initially realized, and both him and Patrick are deeply damaged individuals who hide that damage very well lol

But ohhhh, man, onto the next question, I think that depends on what Nathan's a suspect for. If we're playing with an AU where Patrick investigates the probation worker murders, he'd figure them out in nothing flat. I'm unsure if he'd be able to figure out that Tony was going to kill any of them and that it was done in self-defense considering that was wildly out of character for him and spurred on by the Storm, but it wouldn't matter. He'd figure them all out, and Nathan is the one who'd crack first because he's a crap liar and prone to getting messy under pressure. He'd crack like an egg.

If Patrick did learn that it was self-defense, though, I think... he might let them go. Or, in the very least, he'd make sure the police knew he also believed it was self-defense and that Tony killed Gary. Patrick has little sympathy for murderers, and in his eyes, the real murderer would be Gary. The only murder he wouldn't let off so easily would be Simon's accidental murder of Sally. So... unfortunately, I think Simon would probably get punished, if no one else. :(

Sebastian knew as soon as he set eyes on her that it would be a mistake - The way his thirst for blood had built was more stronger than his need for a friend, and so he tried his best to deflect her friendship by any means - if it was to scare her away or at least act, uninterested.

He was pleading for the affection yet trying so hard to lose it all at once.

The winter holidays are on the horizon. What would are you looking forward to most? Baking? Presents? Family? Movie marathon? [ open for Ray and/or mun 😊 ]

"Not a huge fan of the cold, but it'll have been a year of having our current household group together. And uh, a year since having my daughter in my life, so that's cool. Looking forward to just enjoying time with family and friends and uh...being grateful i've been doing so well recently. And looking forward to seeing where my new work position takes me."

[mun: it'll be summer down here, so not winter holidays XD but either way, im looking forward to a nice, quiet christmas at home (we've gotten to a point where we're just over running around to all these vaguely family members' homes for stuff when they don't respond or reach out to contact us any other time of year and are just keeping to ourselves and taking care of us) And around Feb next year it looks like we'll be moving out of renting and into a purchased house, so yay! (but busy)]
