You know that episode of Bob's Burgers where it's Linda's birthday and everything goes wrong? Well I haven't been sprayed by a skunk or split my pants... But
My phone died at the aquarium and I lost access to any apps to get a ride back to Miami Central. (Thankfully one of the kids had a charger and let me charge up to get back to town).
I missed my train back to Ft. Lauderdale due to superbowl traffic. My poor lyft driver and I didn't speak the same language for me to express my urgent need to speed to make it. So I arrived 3 minutes past the departure time. Poor guy was probably stressed just because of my vibes.
I had a great dinner at a little Cuban restaurant though with leftovers for breakfast in the morning.
Once I made it to the train station a wonderful employee got me a ticket for the next train. When he saw it was my birthday he also gave me a goodie bag backpack with a shirt , souvenir cup, a Celcius drink, 4 celcius energy drink packets, brightline sunglasses, and 2 portable chargers. Haha
So maybe, like Linda in that episode, I should just accept that this kind of thing happens to me on my birthday (more than once) and accept it. Just like Linda I'm in a strange place (first time in Miami) and eventually I'll find my way back home no matter what happens. So I guess it wasn't all bad.
Things I'm grateful for today include:
1. New cities and adventures. 2. Good fucking food. 3. The kindness of strangers. 4. My strength to power through and figure shit out through the anxiety and a few tears.
