Bro thinks they're part of the group.
It's really easy to see how the majority of YouTube horror is badly ripped from Local 58 and Gemini Home Entertainment in such a way that shows people clearly do not understand anything about how and why they work the way they do. Like, you know how I've talked about the way Golden Age comics had their female love interests constantly berating the protagonists to rip off Superman, but Superman was the only one who put active effort into deceiving the world into thinking he was an ineffectual coward, so unlike Lois Lane all those other love interests are just weirdly mean and unpleasant for no reason? It's like that. The tropes are there but there's no understanding.
For instance, Local 58 has ominous text intrude into the broadcast because someone was literally hijacking the analog signals to insert their own messages. There's a specific cause with a specific motive through a specific method. A lot of analog/digital horror will have the spooky text without any real good reason for it, as though a disorienting splice of random images with spooky text was simply the best way to communicate what they have to say. They end up coming off more as like, edgy art pieces.
Rating Internet Horror Series Based On How Accurate I Think Their Names Are
Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared: 5/10. You had one job and you were doing SO well with it until episode 3
Marble Hornets: 1/10. Distinct lack of wasps, but bonus point for being my favourite
No Through Road: -10/10. Pretty big plot point that they go through that road at least 2 times, actually
Creepypasta (just in general): 4/10. Hit and miss on whether I’m creeped out or not by the stories, but the fandom has that area more than covered. When do I get my pasta
(BONUS: Jeff the Killer? 1000/10 naming right there. He sure is!)
The Mandela Catalogue: 0/10. I haven’t seen it but I strongly suspect Nelson Mandela was not involved in the production
The Backrooms: 6/10. Now I’ve worked at a couple of stores and I’ve never seen a back area that’s piss yellow, but at the same time, I guess I can’t really prove that these rooms AREN’T the back of some giant alternate dimension Walmart. So mid points for vagueness. Touché.
Welcome Home: 8/10. I feel welcomed by literally everything and everyone in this neighbourhood EXCEPT that damn home. I feel threatened by that thing
Vita Carnis: One sec I need to put something through google translate
^ OK yeah that seems about right. 10/10
The Walten Files: 8/10. I can confirm there are a lot of Waltens in these files. Removed 2 points because 2 of them are missing for some reason????
Local 58: 9/10. Where’s the other 57 tho
Gemini Home Entertainment: 7/10. WRONG I’m a Sagittarius
I LOVE INTERNET HORROR ‼️‼️‼️
