36 hours in NYC was walking the highline and food and drink 🌱
and also feeding the soul 💛
I have never in my life seen so many feathers. NYC, on behalf of the fandom, I'm so sorry
Friends, I am the least sappy person you (don’t) know, the least soft. But I am so verklempt after last night's show.
I've seen Harry before, twice. The first time was at DAR Constitution Hall in DC, the small venue tour. I went with my guy and he hated the screaming and I was just worried about him having a good time. The next time was in Basel, when we had just moved and I convinced my neighbor to go with me. Our friendship was new and I wasn't completely myself in front of her yet.
So I hadn't seen Harry in 4 years, until last night. A day or so before the show I had a conversation with one of my very favorite people on here, about how going to the shows with other (real life) people can sometimes take away from your own enjoyment. And I decided fuck it. FUCK IT. My guy has seen me give birth three times w/o drugs and I was self-conscious about harrie-ing in his presence? Good lord 😅
I don’t know how to properly express the JOY. The FUN. I have a couple of photos that kinda look like impressionistic oil paintings bc our seats were not close to the stage. We couldn’t see the screens. His outfit was not my favorite. But NONE of that mattered. He sounded amazing. (We sounded pretty good too) His joy filled the room. Our joy filled the room. The room was FULL. Fuck. I’m not sappy. I’m NOT!
My guy knew 2 songs from this album before the show, and 3 from the previous albums. He’s a sort-of-fan but not really a fan. You know what he said after the show?
He was fascinated by Harry, that Harry could create an environment where he was having so much fun, and the audience was having so much fun, and the joy reflected back and forth exponentially, creating a bigger and bigger communal joy. That this ability that Harry has seems really rare and unique. My guy said he felt like the music was better live, and while he enjoyed it (the music), it was the FUN and the JOY that was incredible to watch and be a part of.
He also said it seems like Harry might be an actual good person, a nice guy? Yeah, I said, it seems like he is.
It wasn’t the funniest show, or the sexiest show, but I am over the fucking moon. I love one hyper-energetic joyful beautiful adorable orange-spotted noodle man with an incredible voice and a big fucking heart. Fuck you, Harry Styles, for turning me into a sap.
Also.
As we were strolling the Highline on the way to a really good brunch this morning, my guy turned to me and said “Is it starting to rain? I think it’s raining. (pause) Either that or Harry Styles spit on me.”
My guy being the one to bring Harry into the conversation? Speechless.
