He wasn’t sure if this was something Lou could help with, but, it didn’t do any harm. A couple of months ago he wouldn’t have dared talk to the Daughter of Hecate, but, getting to know her he’s not as terrified.
“So, your mother is the goddess of magic... and most other demigods can do some sort of minor magic... do you think you could help me sharpen my skills?” He smiled, softly. “If not, how’ve you been?”
(hugs adrian.)

as soon as she lunges toward him, adrian’s arms were already spread wide in welcome, and he sighed as he encased her in a warm embrace. “hey...” he whispered, mirth lacing his lips. “are you okay? what’s up?”
Hazel and her ally – her new friend Lou - had finished training. Well not that they had trained much. Hazel had gotten to upset to continue so they’d left the training room to just spend some time together and take their mind of the games.
But Hazel couldn’t get her mind off the games.
“I’m so bad at everything,” she fretted, “I won’t be able to help you at all.”
Why did the quarter quell have to make it so ten year olds could be in the games? If that hadn’t been a rule for the quarter quell she wouldn’t be here right now. She’d be safe at home – no not safe, she corrected herself. She wasn’t safe at home with how her parents hurt her but she’d be safe from the games.
But if I hadn’t been reaped I wouldn’t have met Lou, who’s been nicer to me than anyone ever. One good thing had come out of this and that was Lou.
Two tributes from different districts could be victors this year and she had Lou as an ally and friend. She wasn’t going to be alone but she was so bad at everything she wouldn’t be any help to her new friend.
“I’m stupid and useless like my parents say,” she told Lou sadly, “I don’t deserve to be your ally.” Tears once again began to fall down her cheeks. She had cried ‘little rivers’ out at home but since her name had been pulled from the reaping ball she was crying out ‘big rivers’ it felt like or maybe an ocean of tears because the tears never seemed to end.
"don't listen to 'em, don't Y'EVER listen to 'em!"
❝ I’m trying not to, I really am-but I just want to give up, Lou! ❞ The daughter of Aphrodite let out a groan, throwing her head back in defeat and rubbing her temples, ❝ Maybe they’re right, though. I’m the fightiest but least capable of fighting. It’s exhausting watching my friends throw themselves around and do these great things when I just sorta talk to people. Even my mother calls me the mediator. I just want to feel like the monsters could stop mocking me for a minute before I kicked their asses. ❞

“So, I was thinking,” began Yali one day “you know how Hekate and Keto have that Mungojerry and Rumpleteaser thing going on?”

Fear clutched at the girl’s chest as she stepped off the bus, glancing around at a place bustling with kids who chatted and laughed without a care in the world. The sun beamed down brightly on her new home, Camp Half-Blood, where she would be spending most of her time from here on out. With other kids. Kids like her.
She stood for a few moments, adjusting the backpack that rested on her shoulder, filled with the only possessions she owned. There wasn’t very much, granted, but at least her cabin wouldn’t be too crowded. Wherever it was. Eleven didn’t know who she would ask about such things.

" man, you've got to do that for me again. or teach me tour ways. or both. i don't care— that was just awesome. " she was rarely so impressed with another's magic, but this girl ? they definitely shared common interests.
