No. No, how did that even happen. Isaac ducked out of the doorway of the observatory, completely at a loss for how his name had wound up on one of the ‘Lia Griscombs’ dance cards. He hadn’t remembered asking for a dance, but then again, the hour between getting off the boat and beginning to get dressed was very fuzzy. It was possible that he had been coaxed into asking one of them at that point, thinking that they were someone else entirely.
Honestly he would have thought that they wouldn’t want to see him. Apparently he hadn’t been rude enough the last time.
Speaking of being rude enough…he saw a familiar redhead not too far down the path, looking like she was admiring the flowers. Isaac whipped to the side and started walking in the other direction, remembering all too well how their last conversation had gone. But his better nature won out, and he turned around. There was a bunch of pretty white flowers nearby, and he reached down and plucked one before squaring his shoulders and heading toward Lucy. He didn’t want to startle her, so he made sure his footsteps were easy to hear as he approached.
“Um, Miss Lucy? I’m…” True apologies didn’t come easily to him, he always seemed to botch them, and he wound up holding out the flower to her with a chagrined look. “Can we start over?”
