I love the OC x canon space with Oliver, Luliver is one of my favs. Can you believe I spent about four hours on this...All that darn lineart coloring..

Alright...I’d put more gifs to explain my point that I’m about to rant about but my mouth is hurting from getting my wisdom teeth removed and I’d also like to just get on with writing my books. But this is bothering me so I’m still going to write this just with fewer gifs than I was hoping.

Looking at the Arrow, Olicity, and so on tags, I’ve noticed the Lauliver fans are pissed and maybe some other fans who just don’t want Olicity together but saying you want to see Felicity DIE just because she’s with Oliver is truly childish. And saying he should be with Laural is also just never going to happen. Laurel Lance, the Laurel of their earth, is dead. And from the looks of it, her character is going to stay dead because that’s where the show is going. Unless you’d like him to be with the evil Laurel Lance from Earth 2. But I highly doubt that that’s going to happen.

I never saw Oliver and Laurel’s relationship going far because it’s a relationship and a love from the past. And when they were together before the island they weren’t exactly a good couple seeing as he was always cheating and lying to her. Even cheated on Laurel with her own sister. That’s not love. 

So Oliver spent 5 years in hell. 5 years fighting for his life. 5 years spent in darkness. Of course, he’d hold onto something that might give him the slightest bit of hope or something to look forward to once he got away. Anyone in a similar situation does. Anyone who’s been on a path remotely similar, in the sense that you’d grip onto anything to get out of a situation, understands. 

But I’ll also put it out there that when Oliver returned to Sterling City and saw his loved ones he didn’t smile the same way he did when he saw Felicity, even in the middle of hell, he saw Felicity, being Felicity, and it made him smile even if it was just a moment. He smiled.

So, once Oliver was home, of course, he’d look for Laural. But what people don’t seem to realize...Oliver isn’t Oliver from the 5 years before the island. He’s changed. And anyone who’s been through something life-changing knows that most of the time people from our lives before don’t normally stay in our lives at least not the same way they were before.I’ve experienced this first hand. A lot of people who were in my life and I thought would be in my life forever aren’t any more or just not in the same position I held them to be. Something life changing happens and it doesn’t just change a few things. It changes EVERYTHING. 

That being said. Felicity came in in episode 3. Personally, I wouldn’t have kept watching the show if it wasn’t for her characters lightness, humor, and awkwardness in the show. I fell in love with her character because she was a lot like me. Even cooler was that she originally wasn’ t going to be in but one episode but the VIEWERS and People connected to the show loved her. The show was so dark that it needed that lightness and that weight lifted. But also I notice things others don’t. Like the setting around them was bright and happy colors. She made him truly smile, again, because of her dorky adorable. I also noticed most of the interactions between Laural and Oliver were in darker setting or darker tones.

Now don’t misunderstand me, I actually like Laurel. I just don’t like her with Oliver because after what he’s been through Laurel isn’t want he needed in his life. Laurel’s character for the first couple seasons is honestly, the wet blanket of the show. Things were about her and her problems. She didn’t take the time to think about Oliver or much of anyone else for that matter. Her addictions to pills and alcohol were honestly her own fault because she came so self-involved. It doesn't matter what anyone else was going through it was just her that mattered. She never without a doubt just trusts Oliver even after she found out the truth of him being the Arrow. That’s the main reason I truly didn’t want Laurel and Oliver together because that’s not the kind of person Oliver needs. Oliver risks his life all the time the help the people of the city, even sacrificing himself. What he needs is someone who trusts him without thinking twice. Someone who cares for others. Someone who listens and balances out their life.

For the first 2 seasons, we saw Felicity, we didn’t have much background on her. We don’t really know what’s going on in her life. But we get little things here and there. No matter how scared or worried she was, she trusted Oliver. Risking her life to get information in an underground casino or being bait for a serial killer she trusted Oliver. Then once we saw in season 3 what happen to her in college we saw how she became the dorky little blond and why she’s helping Oliver. And the further season 3 went we saw her go through things that would make most people want to stay home eat ice cream and watch Grey’s Anatomy. But she didn’t do that, she continued to help the team and when she did leave she realized she needed to return to continue to help people. No matter what was going on in her personal life she continued to think of others first.

The gifs above show the face of a man in love in love and one who thinks he is. Oliver's face, when you see love in it, is clear. The gif with Laurel he’s telling her he loves her. Even when Oliver kisses Laurel his face is almost stone cold. But those faces are nowhere near the same. Again I notice that in the lighting. Every important moment in the Oliver and Felicity relationship there’s there’s light. From candles or lots of lights around the reception room. Their relationship is light. Sarah said that Oliver needs someone who can harness the light that’s inside him. From the start Felicity was light. Her settings, her clothes, her personality. Light. Be it Lightness in Tone, atmosphere or actual Light. Oliver has even said that Felicity is the one who lights his way. We see it every time he and Felicity talk and he listens to her taking his advice. From agreeing to her plan to blow up a building, telling Detective Lance that he doesn’t save the city to get a thank you, or not wanting to die alone in the Arrow cave. She guides him.

Now you’ve made it this far, I’m surprised that I have, but this is just what I see. Also from the words of Stephen Amell. This is TV. This is not the Comics, You don’t always get what you want. Laural and Oliver will always have an amazing friendship in my eyes. They work amazingly as friends. But Oliver and Felicity have something that the Lauliver will never have, and it’s not just a better ship name. It’s actual love. even though all the troubles, the lies, and other partners, and whatever. Love is hard. Love is Unexplainable. Love is something that’s been a debate for many years. Oliver Loved Laural. He will always love her. But Felicity is another kind of love. It’s the love we can’t explain.

So just because you’re OTP didn’t get together or isn’t endgame, don’t want another character or the actual actress to die because it’s not what you want. That’s childish. You have your opinion and ship who you want. But saying they should kill off a character because you don’t like them with someone is stupid. There are more important things in this world to worry about and more people who don’t deserve to be on this earth.
