Akaash opened the door to see Ana standing there, completely soaked by the rain. "Ana-"

"Belle."

A beat. "What?"

"Belle. That's what Dessie called me. When she died I never let anyone else call me that, or by my full name. I didn't trust anyone with my heart after what happened. But.. you mean the world to me." She reached into her bag and pulled out a flower covered in frost. "You gave this to me when you took me to meet your grandmother. You've shown me the most vulnerable parts of yourself and you have every right to be upset with me for lying to you. But I do love you. Not in the way you love me or how parents love each other but-"

He hugged her. "I don't care. I should’ve let you explain before saying all that stuff. And I know you love me, in your way, which is the best way I can imagine."

"So does this mean you'll let me copy your history homework?"

"Not a chance in fiery hell, Belle."

Akaash chuckled nervously as he held his hand out to Ana. "I found this rock when I was in Rajasthan, and it reminded me of you."

Ana blinked, staring down at the rock. It was smooth in some parts, and jagged in others. "It..reminded you of me? You sae this rock and thought of me?"

"Uh yeah." He puts his hands behind his back and started sifting between his tippy toes and his heels. "It's the color of your eyes, and the smooth part made me think of you when you're masking and when you're tired, and the sharp part made me think of the panic attacks you have when you think you're alone or feel safe. It just..made me think of all the parts I love about you."

She felt herself tear up, then she whispered, "thank you." Ana hugged him tightly, Akaash slowly wrapped his arms around her, making sure he didn't accidentally overstimulate her by hugging too tight.
