Blue Lake Blues
I want to go back To that paradise Of sand in my shoes And sap in my hair Of cold showers No matter the time of day Of bad food Except for chicken patty Fridays Of rice cream And choco tacos Of Marek South And coffee table Of fighting off spiders And tucking in shirts All the while I'm trying to hide my colorful socks I want to go back To the whack art program Of bad replacements And no more Mike Of shattered pottery And paintings of nature Of "NO CARTOONS" And "EXPRESS YOURSELF FREELY" All the while I'm trying not to strangle my teachers I want to go back To summer crushes Of coming out And being proud Of meeting new people And learning about yourself through it Of the inside jokes And the poop competition Of those boys Those boys that taught me I could express who I was And it wasn't taboo I want to go back To where I learned Of things they never teach you in school And what it means to have family Of friendships that really were forever And what love really feels like when it's real.
